I learned that link to your website are considered as votes by many search engines so bad link may bring your site down ! but notice people interest about how many directories they submit their sites it's kindda confusing : I think quality submission is a lot better what do you all think ?
A mix of both. If you have lets say a $300 budget for promotion and little time, then quality directories are much better. If you have a unlimited budget or unlimited time, then any link is a good link. Worst case scenario, Google will not pass juice if that site is considered a bad neighborhood. Your site will not be penalized.
I am looking for directories which have strict guidelines and which only list gnuine quality sites but they are few and far between. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hello... Well to be honest anymore i have to really wonder if "quality" is even a factor anymore as i see some directories that arent worth much (content wise) get a good PR ranking this round and some directories that i thought where really good and filled with content get screwed so... In my heart i say "quality" but after this its just left me really baffled.... thx malcolm
It would realy depend on the directory main purpose. I see many new free directories acepting mountains of crap with little to no editing, as they really do not care about anything other than to bring people to the site to sell adsense, and this alone has opened up a can of crap directories. on the other hand you now have many paid directories, becoming more chhosy in what they accept. When you drink wine, you learn one good bottle is worth 12 bottles of crap.
A bit of both. You have to try to spread your risk a little, so if you invest too much in a small number of quality directories and something happens to most of them, you lose out. The smartest thing to do is to take your directory budget and the time you're willing to devote to this, and divide it between high-quality, mid-priced, niche, and free submissions.
Im going to be really controversial today and say ignore the tug of war between quantity and quality. Instead run a site that you absolutely love and that your users love, it may not be that much of a difference what you choose from the above then.
