    Hello.

I am looking to speak with someone that owns a web hosting company. I am kind of curious how much work is required, money require, etc. Leave your MSN if you're up for a chat :)

Why did you post this in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum? You'd get much better results in the General Business forum.

I do & my advice to anyone thinking of starting out would be to stay away from it :) It's a high competition, low profit business. Almost everyone with some technical knowledge who wants to make money online starts out with a web hosting company. It's way too saturated & over-rated. It's a business that's full of shit. Forums like webhostingtalk.com are filled with people who post as though they're suit & tie wearing "CEOs" while trying to sell their hosting plan which costs (for a whole month) less than a cup of coffee. Sure there are companies making money but unless you have the expertise to promote one & the necessary capital, I would seriously suggest staying away from this business. It's difficult to get traffic from ppc campaigns for mainstream hosting keywords as the (never mind the insanely high bids per click) sites ranking in ppc now have been there for quite some time (godaddy, 3ix etc) and to beat their adwords quality score is not an easy task. This leaves you with (online) getting traffic from long tail keywords, both seo & ppc, and social media marketing.

It's simply not worth it. The effort and commitment invested in getting a hosting company to start generating for example, $10,000/mo would be rewarded much much better in other niches IMO. To get to $10,000/mo selling a $5 web hosting plan, one has to make 2000 sales in one of the most cut-throat & competitive niches online. And then there are hellish tasks & issues (or expenses) like providing support, maintenance of servers, ddos attacks & so on. I would much rather prefer to sell other forms of subscriptions, like content for example.
