Google vs Yahoo - Yahoo is more popular

Take a look at this data I just took this screen shot from google trends. I compared google to yahoo and guess what more people are looking for yahoo then google

Its because Yahoo offers more services than Google or anyother website.... Its a Portal but Google is just a Search Engine.. (although they are moving to others services too their primary service is search)

 

Google sends more traffic by search then yahoo and has better conversions of traffic from search results.

 

Google has a lot of services like youtube, blogger, etc. that are with a different name and site. On the other hand I think the primary services by Yahoo are all under the same Yahoo name.

YES, That's a fact! If we count blogger.com's and youtube's traffic then Google will be the Number One... Also, Yahoo hosts its regional domains as subdomains whereas Google uses seperate domains for them.......

 

Google is much better... because
1) Google is serving all most all the regions with a domain dedicated to that.
2) Google is meant for Search only
3) Google's partner sites like Youtube, Orkut, Blogger are much better than yohoo has as their counter part
4) Search quality of Google is much better than yahoo
5) No webmaster will reply on yahoo, Google is very favorite.

 

Well, your statement is plain wrong.

1.The USA is not the world. There are many countries where people don't even use Google. These are not 3rd world type countries btw, for eg, South Korea which is probably the world's most "wired" up country barely uses Google. By having a dedicated regional presence, it does not mean people will use it. Do not forget that MSN/Live and Yahoo also have regional domains.

If Google is meant for search only, what is Google Video, Google Checkout, Google Docs, Google Calendar etc?

The partner sites you mention are the social side which Google has bought, not developed. If you go for a 1-1 development, try comparing Google Answers to Yahoo Answers - guess which one still exists? Also, Do not forget Sites like Flickr, Yahoo Directory, Yahoo Games, Yahoo Kids, Kelkoo (used so much more than Froggle <-- remember that?), del.icio.us, blog.gs etc are quite populour sites around the world. One cannot dismiss such a portfolio of which only a few were mentioned above.

Search quality of Google being better than Yahoo is debatable as well. All you need to do is read comments by your own webmaster peers here on DP where many have already mentioned getting better/relevant results on Yahoo than on Google - no need to take me at my word, do a search on DP.

No Webmaster relys (I assume you mean rely as reply makes no sense) on Yahoo? Are you serious? Ever heard of Overture? Where do you think all those backlink web tools get their results from? Do you even know of Yahoo's SiteExplorer?

 

Search Quality is best for Live Search and not for Yahoo Search... MSN's traffic quality is the best among the 3.... Start an adcenter campaign... you will see that the conversion rates are better than google or yahoo.......

 

GOOGLE is the best. I dont know about Yahoo. but I only use google ,.

Of two things you can say one is the best if you compare it to the other. You don't even use Yahoo, how can you say that Google is better???

i think that G is the best period.
also an other thing does G trends shows what the people are seeking on G SE?if that is what it does then probably there will be more people trying to find yahoo when they r on G and the exactly opposite.
By the way my 90% of SE traffic comes from G.and the results from yahoo for my main keywords are at least weird.

 

Yes, Y! has many online services than Google, that's how its more popular in online services but Google has more popularity for its search and sponspor lisitings.

 

i only use google.....to me it does what i want and that is to search for stuff.....i dont care about portal or groups etc....just search

for me best and effective search engine is Google , Yahoo... no way

 

i definitely give Google the thumbs up on this one.

Yahoo sends me poor quality traffic even when it's through paid search. That's been my experience and they took forever to approve ads. Forget MSN is just out to lunch.

 

Try MSN.... its traffic quality is the best... but the amount of traffic is very less unless you bid high....

 

Google, is and will remain the leading search-engine for many years from now, though Google is slowly building their network, developing new features for users, Yahoo on the other hand offers so much more than Google at the moment.
