was wondering, since i have heard rumors of Google employees trolling this forum, and since alot of directory sites that are posted and linked to here,do you think that posting your sites PR will be manually penalised?(please dont flame me,just a ?) Thanks
I don't think by simply posting your sites pr will get you penalized. For instance if some one is putting together a list of directories and ask for PR to be included into that list. However, with that being said, I do believe that they see it as a violation to promote your site based on pr. For instance, submit to this PRx site to get better rankings ect. I believe that this type of posting they will manually go after.
i agree...they do as they please right..like if i made a thread"My site is PR7,submit now or the like,that would be a red flag i would assume,right?
Why would any1 do that? This is SEO forums and we can discuss about any issue regarding websites including its PR. Thanks
In my book it is ok to post pr as part of directory descriptions without focusing on pr like: urlofdirectory.com 15000 uniques per month 3000 indexed page in G pr4 but not like: Submit to pr6 directory Maybe it's the best to forget it and let users decide if that means something or not to them.
Igniting my flame thrower, just joking I cant see google employees coming here, they would have better things to do. Manual penalization and picking through threads one by one, or even using something to catch all of the threads that have particular words, i doubt it. Only a few days ago people were saying to forget PR, to move on from it, but people are still obsessed with it, they cant seem to losen the grip. Get a grip people, but not on PR, on your sites and just take care of things. So far since April this year ive seen people telling you that PR is hugely important, those same people recently said screw it, now within 3 days the same people are talking obsessively about it again. Crazy I remember in a post earlier this year suggesting to people to ease back off the PR obsession and telling them it wasn't important, i remember someone putting me in my place, think it was jhrang, suggesting how stupid i would be to not understand it importance. I just backed down and smiled.
Actually, I agree with the OP, I use other forums, an no where else is this topic so heavily pursued, An you know what, in the other forums, they barely noticed any penalties, an merely refer to this event as some thing thats happened to other folk, DP folk in particuler Think about it, This forum often has the highest alexa ranking of any forum in the world Webmasters talk freely as it is lightly moderated It makes it very easy for a company earning $billions per year to help safe guard its income by employing a few guys an gals for a few $100,000 per year to scan forums, blogs etc for material relevant to that company,
i think it is good to disclose page rank and traffic ,unfortunately many are blinded by the green tool bar.until there is another system i think most will continue to post pr.
I don't think any employees of Google browse through DP or any other webmaster forum, I do believe they have much more-important things to go through than browsing on a webmaster forum. I wouldn't disclose any information, fine, I have a pagerank, though I let my users decide how valuable my web site actually is -- therefore I don't disclose any Pagerank information unless it is a web site sale, as I believe some webmasters find it as a important factor, though I see it as a small factor. Regards, Meti
Google is on a witch hunt to penalize paid links and people selling PR. Seems to me that this forum is a ripe hive of that activity and could provide a very useful checklist for any QA/QC program within Google. I started 3 threads recently: Directory Structure 101 - Max Number of Listings per category page Directory Structure 102 - Category Taxonomy Directory Structure 103 - Listing Sort Order to discuss quality issues with directories and except for a few responses, they sunk like lead balloons. The only thing anyone wants to talk about in this directory forum is PR. Just look at what threads get all the attention from the forum list. I'm laughing at everyone who lamented the demise of quality discussions in the DP directory forum in that long and somewhat silly thread. I'm beginning to think that almost everyone here is fooling themselves about whether they are QBC or not. Don't shoot the messenger.
If a directory or any other site for that matter, had no PR and had never had PR, then how would that work? Ones that are affected by something and having no pr to start with. There is the non visible PR, true, but you cant flaunt to others what you cant see yourself.
You are correct logically! But the Mob Boss does not like to use "PR" or any variation of it to promote your site. Why? -- He has the goons with Base ball bats ready to kill any one he points at. So you need to decide if you like to be noticed by the Gangster or you like to be a private citizen.
Correct .... i would reframe from posting anything to do with PR on a directory... If you dont want to lose it that is... PR should be the last thing talked about during the witch hunt thats currently under way... thx malcolm
We are reach to the point that by only telling our pr might get penalised??????????Thats rediculus IMO.I dont know how to describe but every day people get more scared about directories and PR based to urban legends.Hearing that from a member with 3000 posts and over 2 years here make me wonder wtf is going on....
Are you trying to say that if you never had PR to begin with then it wouldnt matter? If so correct... as when sleek was bought from deluxdon it didnt have PR and went paid shortly after and still the submissions rolled in We webmasters know what "PR" is but the general public has no clue and could care less... thx malcolm
