    Hello,
A day ago, I noticed that I had received thousands of visitors from stumbleupon, but I never had even one ever before. Is this normal? Or could it be ddos attack masked as stubleupon?

    Here is a few screenshots:

Remember, I had never received any traffic from stumbleupon before!

Stumbleupon is known to shove you a few thousand visitors then nothing for a few weeks, then do it again.

Its nothing to worry about, but then again you should probably worry about finding other ways to get traffic.

    Why?

    Makes no sense.

In my opinion that's almost like saying, I dont want to get in the shower, I'm not clean enough yet.

Good for you, OP. I only had 1 SU spike, about 240 visits, then nothing. Then about a week later, 100 more.

I'd like big spikes like yours, consistently, but hey. BTW do you have a link directly to SU on your page? Or did some visitor just happen to like it and do it themselves?

I second that. Over 4,000 visits and no monetization! I would get cracking and get some related offers up there. Hopefully that traffic will grow and not a flash in the pan. Nonetheless, that past traffic is just wasted opportunity. ;)

For some sites it's better to limit monetization until they have an established visitor base. I don't think SU is the best way to get those regular visitors, but I do see what logylaps was going for. I know I pay more attention to sites that have few advertisements that I can identify, and the chances that I'll bookmark it increase. That means more returns in the future, even if the publisher decides to sprinkle in a few ads here and there.

    Hello,
About monetization: As dave said, I am waiting for a strong visitor base before putting up ads. Id say its more like saying, I dont want to get out of the shower, I'm not clean enough yet :)

About stumblupon: I think this particular spike was cause because on october 28 a person with many many friends and very good status with stumbleupon stumbled a subpage on my site. If you look at this page http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/www.findyourblindspot.com/flash.php , you can see at the top the person who "discovered" it. Since then I have received 15k uniques (still more coming, thought not at such an amazing rate), 50 natural stumbles on that page, and 10 natural reviews. By natural I mean i did not go to dp BST and trade stumbles. I am pretty sure that su CAN get you some regular visits if you have enough stumbles/reviews.

For those of you who care: Here is an updated screenshot:
