Before you answer this thread, you should read the below wiki entry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution We all know that science has proven how old the universe and planet earth is. You can do this one way by measuring the speed of light, its actually that simple! The closest star to planet earth is Alpha Centauri, it is about 25.8 trillion miles from earth. Light takes about 4.4 years to reach earth from this star. If you take into account that their are billions of billions of stars in the univerise, some so far their light hasn't even reached earth yet; you can conclude the age of the univerise, which is around 14.4 billion years. According to some popular religions, the earth is only around 20,000 to 30,000 years old, which has been technically proven wrong by science. The earth is around 4.5 billion years old. So the big question here is, did science kill god, or did it just prove he didn't exist in the first place?
I'm the very same way, its hard to believe their is no god, yet its hard to imagine a world without one!
Yup I believe in evolution due to the number of evidence out there. But I still believe in a higher power.
Somewhat related, a thread on intelligent design that morphed into science "v." religion: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=523128
Yes, so they could go in either way. I'm not here to tell you to believe one or another, but there are evidence for a young earth as well as evidence for an old earth (1+ billion years). Read the following articles: http://tacklingthetruth.com/?p=3 and http://tacklingthetruth.com/?p=5
I do not believe in evolution, neither will i enter a debate that can not be won by either side. Have fun guys and gals
Considering there are so many different religions, with different believes, with different practices and have changed SO much over the years that how would one even know which is following the true god?
The fact that so many people agree and believe in A God should be proof enough that there is one. Each culture has there stories of God, Is this just coincidence? I think not, i think many nations and cultures witnessed God and the stories, varied as they are, all tell of a god, angels, and superhuman feats.
Easy, the only religion that's holy book has over 24,000 similar ancient copies. Also, most major religions believe in the same God, The God of Abraham. Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all their sects.
Nice one, God in my opinion was created to help man\woman accept death, imagine if we knew 100.0% without a doubt their was no after life, how would that effect you?
God created the earth and us as well. Everyone agree the universe exists, correct? That means you believe it was started somehow, or it wouldn't exist. Random directionless force creating a world perfect for humans to live in is like a tornado going through a lumberyard and 2 miles away, the lumbers that were taken by the tornado form a perfect house by itself. Yea, unlikely. There has to be a more intelligent, powerful, creative, timeless (eternal), immaterial, and causeless being.
