How to start a proxy site?

Can anyone give me some pointers on the very basics of what I need to do to start a proxy site? Where to get a script for it? Any tips/hints on how to run one? Methods of monetization? Etc.. Pointers or a step by step guide is appreciated.

Your help will be highly appreciated. I'm just trying to make a couple hundred a month, and from what I've read, proxy sites are the way to go.

I am currently writing a step by step guide (along with a load of other new guides) to go on freeproxytemplates.com. I am hoping to have them online by the end of the week.
If you're new to proxies, the easiest way to get started is to use a free template. These come with the script integrated and adsense optimised. All you need to do is choose one, download it and change the adsense publisher ID and a few details like site name etc. Then upload the files to your new-found proxy host.
There are some very popular templates on my site (will be adding new ones within days), so feel free to take a look there. If you do use one, it is free, but please leave the backlink and any sponsor links in the footer intact. Take a look at this thread for loads of great hints:

Buy a domain, get a free template from FreeProxyTemplates.com, get some cheap hosting that allows proxies. Also you'll need an AdSense account if you don't already have one.

Then as for getting traffic and revenue, I suggest posting in the freebies section of DigitalPoint and taking part in some stumble exchanges. Also proxy newsletters are a good idea, I suggest Proxy Announcer as it worked well for me.

    Hope this helps,
    Declan.

    This one is great
    freeproxytemplates.com/phproxy-template-8/
seen before lots of time. I often mistake the search bar at the top as the place to put the url in. COuld use that for a Adsense search box.

So what are some hosts that allow proxy hosting? Prefferable SSL, so people can log in to websites that use https (like facebook)

    You guys are great!

Thanks for the help everyone. You've all helped me a lot.

Now, how much is it going to cost me to start one up? (haven't read anything yet)

And also, about how much can I expect to make monthly?

Is it hard to run? A lot of work?

Read my guides, it will show you everything step by step and the costs can be as low as just a single domain name.

This is very good mubin. I'm going to read all those.

Does anyone know how to get PHproxy to log into Facebook? the login uses https.. For reason my proxy directs to a Blank white screen when hitting login.
I know it has to do with the https.. How do I get my server to use the SSL with phproxy?

Or.....you could just post it here with a simple and short explanation, instead of pushing your site for hits.

Never mind, not interested enough anyway.

A proxy site lets users browse sites that are blocked in their country, school, college etc

e.g to get on myspace at school

The benefits are can get traffic to them easy and make decnt money from adsense etc

    Hope that makes sense

So you'd like everything wrapped up in a nice little package? Your not even smart enough to do a search and read through all the posts that discuss what proxies are.

So you basically download the template, change the AdSence code and then upload onto a webhost? If thats correct, could you send me a link to these templates I am highly intrested.
