I don't buy text links, if you view the site you can see how I get a lot of my backlinks, I have many strong partner sites as well.

Just lots of work, in October I broke my #4 position to #3. October 3rd was also the sites one year mark. So it took me over a year to get where I am today.... where does the time go?!

Forget about buying links. I think you should just write a lot of articles (maybe 50-100) and submit them to the top article directories. The potential traffic and free high quality backlinks are just so invaluable. You probably won't be able to buy that with some hundred bucks.
