My friend's blogs got a Pagerank increase (then again, most of his sites doesn't have an assigned pagerank to begin with).
Most sites have a decrease in pagerank. Here are some giants who have lost some of their pagerank:
-Yahoo (10 to 9)
-Youtube (8 to 3) [probably the largest decrease I've ever seen]
-Altavista (9 to 8)
-Alexa (8 to 7)
-iWebtools (6 to 4)
-Microsoft (10 to 9)
-Hostgator (8 to 7)
-Statcounter (9 to 6)
-Nasa (10 to 9)
-Engadget (7 to 5)
-ProBlogger (6 to 4)
-CopyBlogger (6 to 4)
-Joystiq (6 to 4)

Looks like Google changed the weightage of return links or links between networks of sites (making it much lower). Of course, how Youtube managed to lose its high PageRank is still a mystery for many of us.

But, for sure, it's a MUST that google.com should remain PR10 forever and ever, whatever's happening! :)

Link exchange?? LOL why waste your time????

http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=66356&query=link+schemes&topic=&type=

Link schemes
• Links intended to manipulate PageRank
• Links to web spammers or bad neighborhoods on the web
• Excessive reciprocal links or excessive link exchanging ("Link to me and I'll link to you.")
• Buying or selling links that pass PageRank
Good luck with that!

if this is done with sites that have related content as your own site (from my understanding) is ok. I could be wrong though

There has to be some value....that of course would depend on the competitive nature of the keyword terms.

I meant more the part about exchanging links just to exchange links or thinking it would rank a high comp term.

Google clarifies that, and validates your point, by using the word "excessive"

Well if good is a 0 then I agree....

However the PR is not yours truly as the PR is the ranking assigned to blogspot.com

Why are you building traffic and business to blogspot when you could be doing it for your own business?

Peace!

I didn't look at all of these, but Problogger's still showing as 6 for me, and Copyblogger's actually showing as 7.

Personally, I've had some ups and downs.

1. My highest ranked site dropped a notch despite almost doubling its traffic and building more (and better - not to mention natural) links. It probably got hit b/c I had a sitewide PR7 (including several PR6 and PR5 pages) link naturally given by a respected and relevant site to my niche, and that site dropped to a 6 which would have affected several links from their internal pages as well.

2. One blog went from a 3 to 4 which was disappointing. With all of the links from respected blogs in the industry I've gotten in the last few months (none bought, traded, etc.) I was hoping it would shoot to a 5. But again, a really nice increase in traffic in that time.

3. Ones that had no PR now do, so that's a plus I guess, although much weaker starts than most of my sites have gotten on their first go-around with Google (then again one doesn't update often and the other is extremely new, so not shocking).

4. I did have one weird situation. I had two sites (SixFigureWriters.com - was a PR4 and I expected it to go up a step, and AllFreelanceWritingJobs.com - which was too new for PR at the time but had nice relevant backlinks) which I combined into one site a while ago - AllFreelanceWriting.com. Normally, when I've changed a site's domain, the new domain has picked up the PR of the old one. But for a few months, it never happened for the new one. Now, after the PR update, it was assigned a PR of only 2 (despite also picking up quite a few relevant links in its own right, which Google isn't recognizing at all - again, this has been over a few months so it's definitely old enough that they should recognize them). So this is the one that has me slightly frustrated (more that it's not picking up anything after the name change than anything else).

At least it's finally overwith, so people can stop panicking and speculating though, right? :D

I can say that I don't have to panic :)

My thoughts are to build a business first & foremost.

Seriously, what did the 1,000,000s of business invented and started prior to PageRank being invented, do to build their business?

ADVERTISE

;)

I have a PR of 3 even though my URL is just 2 months old.

I migrated my 7 months old blog to wordpress and I guess that did the trick.

PR3 for 2 month old URL is awesome..

its time for lots of marketing and guest posting..
