EBayScraper

I've created this website, called EBayScraper, that will offer some extra EBay functionality to its users. Users can tell the service what they like, register and they will be informed once there are interesting auctions nearly ending on EBay.

I've tried to limit the functionality to the basics, just to try and not overload the website. If needed, I can add a lot of other functionality without problems, or redesign it totally.

Any thoughts about this website are more than welcome! :) If you see that something isn't working, please let me know too!

    Thanks!!

Nice site! I'm not too sure if this has been done before but if not, this could really take off. I'd take advantage of it's uniqueness and it get it off the ground ASAP. I've just got a couple of comments about your design...

First, I'd scrap the header with the random items and replace it with your site's logo so it's in a more prominent position. With such a unique service you want to identify yourself and get people familiar with your site (if that makes sense?).

The 1-2-3-4 graphics look a little blurry and grainy on my monitor, so try saving them as a higher quality file format.

Everything else looks good though :)

    All the best,
    Liam

    Thanks a lot Liam!

You're totally right with the 1-2-3-4 graphics :) I'm not too sure though: I saved it as a lower quality because I want this page to load real quick. What do you think: quality more important than speed?

And about the logo: it's a real good suggestion to change that random items banner. I'll think today about a change that includes the EBayScraper logo. I need a banner for adverts anyway :D

The browsing service has been done before, though not in this form. I was wondering: do you think it's better to focus directly on ZERO bid auctions, or leave it to the user to use the filtering and filter for auctions?

    Thanks again!

It's up to you. Remember that a lot of people are on high speed broadband now (that is faster than 512kb/s), so it really shouldn't matter if they have to load an extra 100kb or so for an image. With some tweaking around in Photoshop you should be able to get a relatively small size while still retaining near lossless quality.

Without confusing them too much, I'd definitely give the user as much choice as possible.

Well, I've changed the banners :) I also registered a new domain with maybe a more suitable name:

    http://www.zerobidauctions.com

It also shows that the website is very easily brandable, as this new website required virtually no coding :)

Now the most difficult part: promoting this website. I really haven't a clue how to do this best :(...

Great site! This would be a big help especially to busy people who do not have all the time in the world to find the products they need. And yes, promoting the site would be a tough one. I would try to tell some friends to pass the word of mouth. Wish you all the best!

nice design and great program. It really is a time saver. As far as promoting your best bet would be to find a JV partner. I suggest the following SilentSalesMachine [dot] com and platinumpowerseller [dot] com

I like the 0-bids more than the first design. Also - I think you are safer not using the ebay name and variation on their logo.

The red "I" in actions looks strange - I would make it all one color.
