Newsgroup Spamming

Hello.

I recently got suspended from my hosting for newsgroup spamming of my website.

I don't actually know anything about newsgroups and didn't spam but I was wondering about newsgroups.

Is it possible for anyone to have posted my website on a newsgroup?

And how will my hosting have any proof that it was me if it could have been anyone?

I guess they do not care who did it and how your site appeared in those newsgroups. Newsgroup provider complained about the spam and said that your site was promoted in those spam posts - hence the result - ban for you.

My account isn't banned, just suspended. It could be terminated or suspended, if it's suspended then they can easily re-enable them.

That doesn't seem fair though, so if I didn't like someone I could spam their website on a newsgroup and get them banned from their hosting.

Really it could have been anyone so its not very justified.

 

Yep, life is not fair. Think about your competition... you might get an idea about who did that.

 

Yes, I told my web host I didn't do it, anything else that might make them more likely to give my account back?

Spamming newsgroups is an old technique, most newsgroup manager/leaders already experienced spams. Most likely they will approve before anything is sent to its members.

e.g., sending "Free Glucose Meter" affiliate links to diabetes newsgroup/forums.

 

Please read my posts... I am not going to or wanting to or have spammed in a newsgroup but my host thinks I have.

 

I don't think they should have suspended your account without warning or at least getting your side of the story as at the end of the day there could have been a possible reason for that spam which you say there are and if it was not caused by you then they could have lost you money, search engine rankings, backlinks, etc. for having your site down a few hours.

My advice would be for you to sort out this spam and change hosts.

 

Its worse than that.

This happened the day I went on holiday for a week. My sites have all been down for a week now.

They also take like 6 hours to respond to a ticket so if its not replied to by tomorow morning I will phone them, if its still not sorted out I will get a new host and ask for a refund for the next 3 months of service I was charged for yesterday (also while my sites were down )

My sites are all down in SERPs and I was finally getting happy with my listing and starting to get some AdSense earnings that were quite good
