Yes many, many big authority sites with high PR had their PR decreased on average 1-2 points down.

Forbes.com is PR4. It use to be 7 or something.

Problem I see is that with this update, lots of sites have dropped, which is going to make all the link exchanges uneven.

I'm expecting to lose lots of link exchanges over the next week if the dust settles this way. Which will drop me into oblivion as far as the serps go.

My main site has gone from 5 to 3, I don't sell links. So the reason why its dropped is beyond me, unless the majority of people linking to me are no longer able to pass PR. Otherwise, what do we do from here? exchange links again where we can and try and build up again, or is that going to be wrong in the next update? :(

Interesting reading the threads - many of my aged (4 to 6 years) pr6 sites are now pr5 - and my 2 aged pr 7 sites are now pr4 - many of my new, recently created zero backlink landing pages with ok to good content are ranging from pr3 to pr4 ?

nope I would not think so I have a domain thats 4 months old its all ready pr4

one of my sites thats 3-4 years old domain and much content and pages is only pr3

every one has their own little ideas...Personally I would not rely 100% on google its a bad business model to have.

Now google is adjusting toolbar pr manually. What value do we get from that?

My serps are all the same if that helps, with a drop from 5 to 3. But they will drop when my link exchange's are dropped because of my low PR now.

So it gets to the serps in one way or another!

well, the only change will be that we will be paying bucks for pr3 or pr4 instead of pr6 and pr5 links and be happy with.

I don't think that google consider age as a variable in its algorithm as my 12 days old domain got PR1 in this update.

I got a drop in PR in a two year old domain and a huge lift in a three month old domain.. so, it might not be based on the age of the domain..

Exactly. Need to wait and see how it unfolds.

If indeed the original premises hold true, that the sum of all PR = 1 and that it is a reflection of the probability a random surfer follows a particular link, then with all the large "drops" being reported, stands to reason that there needs to be a large number of gains as well. Haven't heard much about the latter.

What I've read is that Google has manually lowered the tool bar pr for some sites selling links. So there wouldn't have to be any gains.

It's true what visible PR has no much sense but it's a pitty to get down!

And about link exchange... i think many webmasters start panic and remove links to sites witch get down PR...

I don't think PR will ever be based on age. The quality backlinks is what matters.

I think you are confusing search ranking with pr.

Well weirdly enough, all my sites have gone up. http://theprodigysachintendulkar.blogspot.com is 1 month old site. It has little backlinks and one PR6 links and it gets no traffic. Yet the blog went to PR4.

Another question i have is it ranks bad. Will it suddenly rank well with the new PR increase?
