New directories that gained PR1 penalized?

My new free directory got a PR of only 1, and I must say I'm quite disappointed. I promoted it a lot and I think it should have ranked better.

Anyway, what I wanted to ask is: Are there people in this same position? Is this some sort of penalty Google applied to new directories?

 

There is imho no pattern of sense or logic in what G is practising or implementing

 

if you gained PR1, I think it's not a penalization.

 

Why blame Google when you actually "increased"?

Putting a lot of effort into it doesn't always translate into result unless you have done it correctly and ultimately luck.

 

Gooogle has always had issues with showing (counting) all your backlinks, I think it is likely you didn't get penalized but maybe the quality of backlinks is low.

 

I don't blame Google, I'm actually trying to figure out what went wrong. It is almost certain that I got in a bad neighbourhood or something and I'm trying to see if it also happened to others. For instance, I have TLA banners with direct links to them. I was lazy enough not to hide them using tinyurl or my inner pages that could redirect, so I'm thinking of this sort of penalty. It may as well not be due to TLA, but I believe that I was worth more than PR1 for my new directory.

 

Nice directory, I got a surprise the other day when my new directory received PR4. I had only submitted my site to a handful of free directories posted here on DP!

 

Hi Dwaighty, It really depends on a lot of factors like the age of domains, your backlinks and so on... even a PR1 is not a bad start. Word hard this time & jump on the PR scale.

 

If you are talking about the dir in your sig link its not penalised. it shows up if you search for asimpledirectory in google.

 

Consider yourself lucky My web directories all got penalised and reduced to PR2 (from pr5, 4 & 3).

The only good news for me is that my bidding directory went up to PR3 and is not penalised.

 

No point trying to figure google out anymore.

 

If you where penalized you wouldnt have gotten anything...

Don't think its a penalisation, its just G being unpredictable as always.

 

This coming from the owner of several penalized directories and splogs.

 

He has posted in about a dozen threads of mine, he got upset because I red repped him for something...I have reported him to the mods for harassment.

 

google did drop alot of the PR's on directories in general, that is why most of my sites dropped in ranking, google is going after directories in which charge for inclusion etc. boohoo
