I'm a Brit but you know I would be voting Paul if I were American. I wish you well with all your work trying to get his name out, it would be great if he got the G.O.P call but I fear the dumb neocon supporting Republican fools will prevent that from happening, they want Americas Fake Mayor Giuliani.
Actually, Giuliani is loosing some ground in the polls. The Evangelicals are not going to endorse a pro-abortion candidate, and they represent anywhere between 20~30% of the party base. Not to mention that Rudy's entire platform is the war, prompting guys like Romney and McCain to step up and challenge his sole claim to warmongering. With Huckabee picking up a nice chunk of the Evangelical vote (without the commensurate fund raising), an upset might be in order. The grassroots for Paul is so amazingly impressive. The other candidates (who can afford it) are paying to have people make calls, answer emails, carry banners at rallies, etc. Paul's grassroots are buying or making the materials and lists themselves, and doing it all for free. I'm guessing the active grassroots is in the neighborhood of around 15,000 people. Not to mention that the loose grassroots leadership is encouraging understanding the different regulations and laws of each state, with Paul Republicans signing up to be delegates, which gives them a chance to go to the national convention where the final leadership will be decided. It's not a straight democratic process, it works through proxies. A really interesting by-product is that there are now Ron Paul Republicans starting to run for office around the country. One in Lousiana as a Congressman, and one in New Hampshire for the State legislature off the top of my head. But many are participating in the local party chapters becoming chairpersons and filling other roles. It's a lot like the 1964 movement which spawned a lot of Goldwater Conservatives (Barry Goldwater). The effect of this campaign will carry on long after the election for the traditional conservative movement. Anyway, I have some work to do, and will be back in a few days with the end of weekend update. A lot of new media should be cropping up in the next few days.
With Diebold voting machines that is not a concern, just look at how Bush managed to win 2 terms. I think the scumbag Giuliani is nailed on but the good thing is thanks to Paul supporters his name is getting out big time. With such a corrupt government as the US has Ron Paul who is the honest guy that cares about people hasn't got a chance mate, sad but true. The corrupt Bush/Clinton dynasty has way too much power mate. Things are not going to get better any time soon.
I just found this, it's the definitive Ron Paul in my opinion, and Brit or American, it's definitely worth viewing. It's Dr. Paul heading into New Hampshire to sign up for the primary election and answer questions from the media. Paul's biggest trouble, in the long term, may be his supporters. RP supporters are just a huge turn-off to most normal people. There was even an RP campaign memo which was distributed recently asking the groupies to shut up about all the weirdo stuff until after the election. RP's not even elected yet and his campaign is already pushing censorship.
I was wondering why all the silence on 9/11 troofer stuff was taking place. omgfletch eluded to that last week in a post. AGS, bless his little heart, keeps forgetting about keeping a lid on it SPECIFIC CONTRIBUTION BY LEADING NEO-NAZI TO RON PAUL CAMPAIGN IDENTIFIED In addition to the other issues with racism, this one came out and is not very flattering. Just one more, in a very very long list of "coincidences."
This is totally untrue. HQ specifically does not issue directions or requests to the grassroots. This is how it must be under the FEC. I challenge you to show some proof.
http://www.rationalreview.com/content/24090 This guy explains what kind of thinking you are dealing with when engaging the neocons.
Do you honestly believe no other candidate, Republican/Democrat has ever gotten funds by someone such as a white supremecist or any other 'bad' movement? I like the idea of Paul donating the $500 to a worthy organization, speaking out and saying he is not for white supremacy would be nice but I don't think it's needed as nothing shows he is for it. Just because this group latched onto Paul's campaign does not change his campaign or it's meaning, in anything, any ruling, any stance there are goods and bads. This simply show cases a bad group supporting him, seriously IMHO this is taking way more meaning than it should. Paul is for freedom, freedom does allow for bad apples as long as they follow the rule of the land. Do you disagree with this?
Grim, yes, we can agree on this. This could easily happen to any campaign and would certainly be unwelcome. I've seen no indicator that such is unwelcome from RP's campaign. I have seen racially motivated words he has used in the past (claims it was a ghostwriter, whoever that is) that seem to be drawing neo nazi groups as well as anti-semitic groups of all sorts to his campaign. It does raise questions, such as "why are these and other racially motivated groups flocking to him?" "Was it statement's he's made in the past that are leaving these, and anti-semitic groups feeling endeared to him?" RP is not unlike any other candidate in this race. He is not above scrutiny. I'd like to see him donate the money to a nice Jewish charity. I believe every candidate, both republican and democrat and those who are not sure where they belong, are for freedom. No one holds a monopoly over freedom or our Constitution.
One of your better posts Gtech. Yes nobody holds a monopoly over freedom as you call it, some however are for being more true to the meaning of the founding fathers than others. True freedom does come with a price, that price is bad apples will take advantage of it. That is all I see from this, bad apples trying to latch onto something that is good for all. Bad apples getting something from true freedom is not a reason to strip any freedoms away from the good citizens of this land, it's a reason to further protect them to allow the good citizens to speak up and be louder than those bad apples
I'll admit, some are more open to giving terrorists freedoms our forefathers fought for, than others. I see that quite often. In fact, as best I can recall, the only time we ever see any discussion on the Constitution, is when someone believes it might benefit terrorists. Our Constitution is not there for their benefit. As far as bad apples go, this is just another long list of coincidences that eventually RP is going to have to address. Those kinds of coincidences do not just randomly add up. I agree, some people need to hide behind the Constitution more than others. And they are entitled to hide there, but I draw the line at giving foreign terrorists...enemies of our country, rights that my ancestors fought and died for.
Why is my Ron Paul Update thread getting trampled? This thread is for Ron Paul campaign updates only please. Feel free to start general discussion threads for position specific banter.
Agreed. This thread has had one specific purpose since it's creation, to update the Ron Paul supporters of this board of any campaign updates. I'm involved in numerous RP groups, but occasionally Guerilla finds something I haven't heard about, and it's a great resource for the many supporters of RP on this forum. Please create topics specific to the arguments being made, let this thread stand for it's original purpose.
Yea, us libertarians are totally denying your right to expose Ron Paul to the masses, especially with the way we took away your "New Thread" button. Oh wait... EDIT: I can't recall if somewhere in my 500+ posts I ever threadjacked someone, but I'm almost 100% positive I've never done so when explicitly asked to keep the thread on its original topic, by its original creator. I'm sure guerilla just wants that level of mutual respect.
Why does Ron Paul need to defend to you that his campaign got money from someone--anyone? He states his case yet you always find a way to avoid the issues he brings up. You know what all this means...the neocons are scared, very scared
So, which one of you scared little Ron Paul weenies is going to take my offer to put some money on this game?
