All my sites PR dropped around 1-2 whether it sell links or not. Don't know what to say. Google just linked all of them together and slapped. Phew
ditto. For some reason my PR5 dropped to a PR4...In the past year, my site has grown substantially, especially with a great increase in backlinks!! I'm a member of TLA, maybe that's why? kidding..
TLAs cannot be noticed by the search engines. The search engines are able to study the topography of the web but only reciprocal link farms can truly be seen. TLAs are too clean and perfect, especially with the ad text code used by TLA and other services like them.
Also, make sure the code you are using for TLAs is clean - make sure the javascript doesn't show signs of TLA usage...
I'm so sick and tired of hearing about how this PR update killed TLA users. It didn't. Half of the more notable sites that had a PR drop were not selling paid links. There is something else at work here. An algorithm change? Sure. That's just part of software - and SEO / SEM in general. It's always changing and that's a good thing. Google isn't (yet) suffering from the Innovator's Dilemma. They have shown that they are more than willing to kill something off if there is a better opportunity next door.
Too bad there is so much misinformation flying around right now. Probably exactly what Google wanted - FUD at its finest!
Thanks, so anyone who is using Text Links Ads should expect a drop in PR? This does not sound right to me.
That would be anti-competitive behavior, and it could actually get Google into some trouble. I don't think Google was just going after TLA users. They messed with PR because they know that there are many link buyers out there using it as an indicator of how valuable a site is. By grouping most sites together in the PR4-PR6 range they have made it harder for those advertisers to know which sites are really going to help bring them traffic. There's no reason why Google should be expected to provide a tool to help their competitors.
