Hi Guys, Was trying out various options to identify how PR affects the order in which a page would get displayed. Search Term Used -- hosting Option - search entire web. Result Sponsered Ads from GoDaddy And the results surprised me First Result - TOP 10 QUALITY WEB HOSTING PROVIDERS - October 2007 PR 0 / Back links 0 / Second Result - Hosting | Cheap Web Hosting | Web Hosting | Asp Hosting | Domain ... PR 7 | Back Links - 1940 Third Result - Web hosting service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia | PR 7 \ Back links - 128 Any reason why the first link with 0 backlinks and 0 PR comes as first result? Do you get similar response in your country? Thanks for reviewing my post
I would only say PR may be give you more chances on the SERP lists but a site having a high PR does not mean it will be at top SERP. I think average PR5.xx may tell most sites have PR4-8 for keyword=hosting for top SERP. You may check PR average tool: http://livepr.ezer.com/pagerank_average.asp?k=hosting
Thanks for the link .. I have bookmarked it and I am sure I can get some vital information on how I should re-design my hosting services to get listed somewhere in Google. cheers
The site that ranks first is a PR5 website (the homepage) so thats going someway to why the site ranks number one, it also has good onsite SEO
Each page is indexed on its own merit, so it really doesn't make sense why a page with 0 PR shows up. I don't think homepage PR would influence site rank in search. It did appear to me odd, that while google shows it as first result, it doesn't give a page rank for the page, so what was the criteria to list it? (Is it paid, but not showing up as an advert?) Most of the times, sites are sorted by PR, so this case did appear odd to me. Cheers GS
very strange keyword=hosting #1: site shows [PR0] but home page b2evolution.net <--PR5 #3: [PR0 ] but hosting.com <--PR7 #30: [PR0] but register.com<--PR7
The 1st one doesn't have 0 backlinks. It has nearly 1 million Y!backlinks!? and 36 thousand .edu links , 388 .gov backlinks The main page is a PR5... But that hosting info page itself has no PR.
I dont think PR has very much to do with search results. You can type in almost any phrase and check out the top sites listed. They are rarely, if ever in PR order and often you will find PR0 or PR1 listed on first page with much higher PR on second page. I noticed this a long time ago
I think PR updating now. #1 changed from PR0 to PR4 couple minutes ago keyword: ( hosting ) Investigated PR/SERPs ratio summary report: Count PR PR0 PR1 PR2 PR3 PR4 PR5 PR6 PR7 PR8 PR9 PR10 Total Avg Top 10 Google SERPs 0 0 0 0 1 2 1 6 0 0 0 62/10 6.20 Count PR PR0 PR1 PR2 PR3 PR4 PR5 PR6 PR7 PR8 PR9 PR10 Total Avg Top 20 Google SERPs 0 1 0 1 3 3 4 7 1 0 0 112/20 5.60 Count PR PR0 PR1 PR2 PR3 PR4 PR5 PR6 PR7 PR8 PR9 PR10 Total Avg Top 30 Google SERPs 0 1 0 1 7 5 6 8 2 0 0 165/30 5.50 Count PR PR0 PR1 PR2 PR3 PR4 PR5 PR6 PR7 PR8 PR9 PR10 Total Avg Top 40 Google SERPs 0 1 0 1 8 9 10 8 3 0 0 221/40 5.53
In our experience pagerank is not related to SERPs. Type a word into Google and then check the PR of the top 10 results. Can you see any relation?
So the question is, PR is not a valid parameter for a site to get traffic, if that is the case, all this talk @ sales where folks wish to buy links at PR'ed sites is useless... Can some guru guide then, what exactly needs to be done to check how good / bad a site is? I have been doing a lot of search these days but not able to establish any relationship with PR and listing in search engine. Good tip on Web Hosting @ thewebhostingdir... I think i would try it on one of my sites to see if that makes any difference to hits or misses. Cheers GS
As you can see PR is only a factor and not even the most important one in ranking sites. I personally have uninstalled the google toolbar; I have realized that I am sending them way too much infomation and if I want to know the PR of a page, there are plenty of scripts out there that do just that withouth feeding google data about my search habits, SEO work etc.
yes, also i don't think pr makes much sense,it has much to do with your keywords seo in your site, even a new site,if you make it professional,or just one type goods, when you enter the goods type, such as "watches",you'll find out it's very low at pr for the first or second position site but surely they just sell watches. so don't mind it too much,of course,if you want to spread your site, submiting your pages and sitemap to search engine's also essential, which enlarges the opportuity for people to find out your site with some keywords also existing in your site.
