Because many people have no clue what SEO is or how to do it properly or are willing to tell the truth.

For exampe searches without quotes tells the search engine to find all webpages etc with the words used anywhere on the page.

Results 1 - 10 of about 6,250,000 for free hot layout myspace.

When you restrict the search engine to use the words next to each other AKA 'Phrase match" then you get the true competition level for your keyword term.

Results 1 - 10 of about 22,200 for "free hot layout myspace"


This SEO tidbit was free of charge .....

 

Those are better keywords but harder to rank for that your current keyword. You won't be able to do it by the weekend.

 

Instead of "Layout MySpace" why dont you try "MySpace Layout".
Few suggestions:
- Add some pages on the site about myspace, myspace layout, how to use them etc.
- Submit them to Social networking sites.
- Submit to myspace forum also.

I think that would do.

I used the keyword as described on seobook.com tool. Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

 

Now, for the sad part of the story...
Today, the bot crawled my site and suddenly I am not in the top 500 for any words I was ranking within 25, let alone the 13th place.

What hit me?

 

i've checked your site and it is not on the top 100 for "free hot layout myspace" at google or MSN but 59 at yahoo. that term seems to get a lot of competition and could mean pretty good traffic. so you got to do more research on your competitor to outranked them.

 

If you checked it today, you are right. This happened suddenly and I don't know if you read my post just above yours.

 

The entire day today, I have had just 5 leads from Google which till now used to be in hundreds. Only yahoo is sending visitors for now. What could have gone wrong? Why I am not there in the SERP at all? How can this sudden slump happen; a drop from 13 to nowhere!!

Oh! my god!!

 

That's odd for sure. ALL of my sites increased. One that was on the second page is now in first position on page one. Another that was in 8th position on page one is now in 4th. I didn't see any sites go down.

directory submissions. Do it =)

 

You should try "article marketing", "use traffic modules", "Anchor text with back links", "using Blog & RSS feed" in obtaining high ranking in Google.

 

Today, another nail to still downgrade my site.
Google page rank slipped from PR4 to PR2!
