    Here is the thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=525593

I loaned this guy $100 and today is the 3rd day which he promised to payback. He is currently banned from the forum and I e-mailed him but not sure if he saw it. Should I wait another day or two? If I dispute it on paypal is there any chance I will get my money back because it was an online transaction and I have no insurance or anything on that money.

Yep, do a chargeback and hope paypal helps you out. He's definitely a scammer.

Lol a bit idiotic on your end mate...

Never look for extreme short term gains. They usually don't turn out well :)

There's a good chance he didn't receive your email but there's also a good chance you've been scammed. Wait at least a day for a response and if nothing by then, chargeback.

How can you tell that he has no rep points? Just curious as I didnt realize there was a way to tell that.

I do agree that making this loan was probably not a good idea.

I think u need to wait today also.If u paid from PP balance and selected "Service" as an transaction reason, then chances are u wont get ur money back even if u open a dispute.

IF u paid from CC,then file a chargeback.

Firstly, I have to say you are one generous person. :)

Secondly, with all the scams on the internet today, what you did was somewhat under-thought (not smart).

$100.00 is a large portion of money to give to a stranger on the internet, and a not to well known member here on DP.

It's very unlikely the guy is going to pay you back unless you open a PayPal Disput which still may not help depending on the proof and evidence you can give.

In all, what you did was nice, and it's great to see DP members trying to help each other in need, but try to think twice before offering any money over $20.00.

I wish you luck, and hope you do receive your money back. :)

Are you kidding? The OP's been waiting for 3 days already and now the guy is banned. Chargeback ASAP.

Edit: Oops, I misread the OP. Xnay on the 3 days.

Still though, he's banned for something. Play it safe and chargeback now, ask questions later.

I think she meant rep blocks. Any member worth his/her salt has at least 2 rep blocks within 2 months.

Sent the money straight from my paypal, not a CC.

What should I do? Tell them I loaned the guy money and give them the DP link?

In that, as people stated go ahead and open the disput with PayPal, and provide both threads as additional evidence of what has happened.

I would then contact PayPal and ask to speak to their Resolution Center Department to get more support, and in most cases your money returned.

I agree, as most threads I see asking for money, I ignore those completely. Mainly from the fact that there are so many scammers/fraud individuals among the web that it's difficult to believe if the information they are presenting is true or not.

To be scammed out of $100.00 is quite serious, so I hope he does get that money returned, and learn from this.

When filing a dispute, should I put Service, Virtual Goods, or Other Intangable Goods?

Actually I'm not sure there as you somewhat just lending money to be returned and really did not purchase or get an operation done.

If possible, contact PayPal right now if they are still open, and ask what exactly you should do. If they are currently closed, I guess you could somewhat go with the option of a "service" but still contact them tomorrow just to get to the bottom of all this.

Again, I'm not to sure one what option you should select, maybe someone else here could be better help on that.
