If you consider Halo 1 an up to date game I am sorry for you. Direct X is what brings games to life. Not some pretty plastic, aluminum and glass frame.

Some of use do not play games, so we don't care whether or not the computer plays games or not. Some of my mac using friends play games on their macs. One of my friends is currently obsessed with Command and Conquer for mac.

You want a system that does everything. Not just good at graphics.

That is a common misconception. I really do not do too much graphic work. I do a lot more coding.

    Muffinsincream lets face it:

    IT: no comparison. Windows rules.
Server: Another clear winner for Windows
Games: Lets not even go there
Graphics: More products are made for graphics in Winodws then Mac. Avid, Adobe, AutoDesk all sell more third party addons for Windows than Mac although they advertise their products on Mac Power Systems.

Unix beats Windows hands-down when it comes to servers.

Mac font rendering is better for graphics.

Microsoft servers beat Apples servers. Graphics is better on Microsoft than apple because of the large aray of graphics cards, chips and other hardware and software available.

Thats disputable. Unix historically tends to be stronger than Windows in the server environment, but only looking at IIS one can see Windows is quickly catching up.

Buy a mac then run them both... duhr.

Honestly though i'd have to say vista just because all of my software can run on it. Well not all, i'd say XP then cause there are still programs that don't even work for Vista yet.

No, graphics software and hardware is available for both. Macs are just generally preferred for graphics.

Windows is nowhere near Uniz in terms of market share. That's like saying that Linux is a real competitor to Windows in the desktop environment, it's simply not true. In fact, there is a stronger agreement for the latter statement than the former.

What exactly is a Microsoft Server, and what is an Apple Server, are you referring to hardware, or software? Because in each case, one party doesn't have a direct offering. Microsoft doesn't supply hardware directly, and Apple don't supply web server software directly.

If people are running an apple web server (hardware) they will generally be using Apache - which has a much larger market share then IIS.

Mac's are better and more known for graphic design because the font rendering was designed from the very start to look as close as possible to print. Font rendering is a huge consideration for professional designers.

Vista will be the best when SP1 comes out. OSX is too proprietary... XP is the best OS right now IMHO...

I am sorry but you are just reversing facts with your last statement. Linux is as desktop system not as nearly successful as Windows as server platform.

As I previously said, Unix is (historically) still much (but also this depends on the actual usage) stronger in the server market than Windows. But again, if we look at webservers, IIS (which is a Windows only server) is quickly and enormously catching up over the last year.

I have had vista since 4 days after its commercial release and I know there are a few bugs in it but I have absolutely no problems with it. Most people who say vista is bad have installed it on PC's with less than 1GB of RAM, all my PC's with vista have atleast 1GB and most have 2GB and as far as MACs are concerned I do not like them that much and I do not see many uses for it apart from design (which I do not do atall). Also t-nine do you know when SP! is scedualed to be released?

Have you used a mac? I'm not following the statement of you can't see many uses for it. Please elaborate.

OSX is simply Linux compiled for MAC hardware... its not even their own operating system.

Macs account for a tiny percentage of overall computers in use and they have only managed to stay in the game because they got into a couple of niches early on (music and graphics) and their customers care more about what they look like than what they can do.

I laugh whenever I see the Mac slogans "MAC... It just works"...
Well theres 1510407 Registered Users on macfixitforums.com that would agree otherwise. That must be a large proportion of mac users.
