I wanted to save a bit on my domain costs, so I tried using 8 subdomains instead of buying 8 separate domains. The sites I put up on the subdomains are about totally different subjects and there are no links between the subdomains. Setting things up that way saved me a few $, but now I can't make up my mind on whether using subdomains cause worse rankings than normally. I have a feeling that my keyword optimized articles would have ranked better if I had put them on separate domains instead of subdomains, but I really don't know if it's true or not. Does anybody out there have similar experiences or can anyone confirm that I'm totally wrong about this? Thanks, Mads
Ive tried both options for small article sites and found that true domains rank a lot quicker than sub domains. Although both options will rank given time
I have a question about subdomains as well. Let's say I have a site called www.widgets.com, and I want to add a blog to it. Do I use a subdomain like www.blog.widgets.com or do I register www.widgetsblog.com?
In my opinion there is no question, I would really advise you get domains for each topic. Yes it costs more but you have to spend money to make money.
Acording to my experience there is no difference regarding the ranking of domains and sub domains. I used both and found about equal result. But at my one domain its main domain pr is 3 and its subdomain pr is 4.
if you have subdomains mae sure that there are keywords in your sub domains name ,it would help you a lot!
