Hold on horsefly. Google may dictate to you how you are to code your site and that's fine. I mentioned in another post that I'm willing to make changes within reason as far as Google is concerned but unlike some I'm not becoming their slave and bowing to every whim and idea the come up with. This is how I feel and I'm may stay buried in the Serps..but by George if I'm going to kiss their ass...yes boss, yes boss ummmm smack:rolleyes:

Damn, Matt Cutts just coughed....SOMEBODY better jump:rolleyes:

I am one of these vulnerable people and I would be very interested in any dirt you may have on workshop. He is the sole reason I am here and I would quite happily wring his neck for that alone.

And where might the OP be!!!

    he started a good thread!

which took a unexpected turn a few pages back,

and is now going downhill at the speed of light!

very contrary to the rythem of the original idea of the thread

    personal attacks name calling bitchslapping

by presisely the same people who thanked the OP for starting the thread in the first place

How two faced can people be?

@Minstrel leaving your personal attacks you always provide good criticism, so why dont you just stop all this and be productive/ doing what your good at!

@All others Why cant we sit and figure out a plan coz i got this today

guess this thread is not the only one going down!:(

We as an industry need to put our heads together and come out of this,
else our sites will one day be like the small town in the animated movie CARS and we like the grumpy sheriff in it!

    M.
rep me, and continue your fight, but this is my say!

    Hello...

Very interesting read you offered by webpronews and the blogs and huge marketing sites that where affected...Not Just Directories

I think they are pushing the issue to correct thier algo but pissing many off as its being seen as a
slap in the chops to all webmasters and online marketing firms not even concerned with PR but then again..

    thx

I suggest you re-read my posts in this thread. The only personal attacks I've posted are in response to someone else attacking me first.

I didn't know that question was directed to me. I don't use AdWords so I don't know what the impact is likely to be. I highly doubt that Google needs to get ideas from bidding directories, though, and I don't see this as the same issue or phenomenon at all.

For one thing, this is about advertising. Google already charges for advertising and hasn't done anything to discourage others from charging for advertising either. That's a much different thing than charging for PageRank, which is what Google has punished and what bidding directories were devised to be all about, whatever protestations to the contrary we are now hearing from bidding directory owners.

Well lets say for instance "Mikey" and his "Bid Directory"
It offers NO PR at all so why would it be "penalized" if its all about PR?
(providing he didnt go get any high PR links to get himself stuck:eek:)
Its surely not about "sitewides" as thiers none thier or ever being offered.
    (simply home page advertising)

So i would assume that thiers another reason or explanation...

    thx

My question is does a directory that have been penalised and their pages are not cached or recently not cached good to charge $35-$100 for a link ? Just say for an example that you are a subscriber would you buy a link from a site page that does not even get traffic ? Or would you buy a link from a $20 cached page rather than a $100 uncached page ?

Like many other directory owners, especially bidding directory owners, what Mikey says he's doing now - AFTER the Google crackdown - and what he was doing BEFORE the crackdown are very different.

You're only seeing part of the story.

Im one of many who has made changes. Loads of directories have dropped paid links, popotalk said so in his update yesterday, thats why many are submitting for re-inclusion.

I have far worse issues though, i dont know what its about or why its done. I thought it was because google indexed 3 copies of my site where i was showing a demo of free themes, but minstrel dismissed that. So i dont see what my extra issues are compared with the others...

Neither do I. I haven't said you are being singled out beyond other similar directory owners. You seem to think you have been but it didn't come from me.

I work with him and I was the one that suggested he try being a little less confrontational.
That was double or quits and it looks as if I lost this one as well.

    "I have extra issues."

You don't think your signature might be one of them?

    I'll take that as a no :)

Well in view of what's going on your signature is either reckless or desperate, IMO.

You haven't noticed how other members are quietly dropping their sig links, or wondered at the strange coincidence that most of the "first wave" of penalised directories were promoting themselves here?
