Why are there so many banned members?

Seems like every other thread I read, there's someone with multiple squares of green rep who is banned. Why do so many people get banned here?

Because they dont follow forum FAQ/Rules

You get infarctions for inappropriate postings/behaviour..
    10 infarctions = banned

Always find a lot of members that never follow the rules.
But if there where no rules this site wouldn't be as good

You also can get banned for doing dumb crap such as spamming or multiple accounts, which is so stupid.

I think they give infractions to people more than they should (the mods).

Because apparently there is a huge gap of intelligence between being able to post and being able to follow the rules.

Yeah, mostly fair n reasonable answers. And I've seen plenty o spam on this and other forums, so I'm not complaining.

It just seems really weird - the guy who wrote the reputation FAQ must have been a mod at some point. To go from an elevated position to banned is something I don't think I've ever seen, so it perked my curiosity.

Are there such things as permament bans on DP?

And does it matter how many expired infractions that you have?

Yes there are of course. I don't think all duplicate accounts should have an option to return after few months.
