    I also dropped again for one of my sites. I dropped a few weeks ago from 5 to 4 and now from 4 to 3.

    I don't really care much because I rank really well but it worries me that my ranking may drop because of this. So far, i dropped for my main keyword 1 spot from 6th to 7th on this particular site.

    EDIT::: I am checking inner pages and they are all still good. PR3, same as home page. even 3 deep off home page. Hrmm.

    My drop is a non-directory non-blog site. I do not sell links, no need on this one because the site makes a lot of money with advertisments (google ads and other CJ stuff).

    Yes, I was doing sponsored post

    But tens of my other websites on which I have been actively selling links have been able to retain its PR in both the Downgrades

    This clearly raises suspicion of being a penalty for link selling

    I dropped from 5 to 4 last week, then dropped to 3 today. Funny thing is after the drop my visitors increased. Also indexed pages are increased. So what is happening???

    How many times can this be said.....

    PageRank is ALWAYS being updated.

    Only the toolbar is update every so many months or so, I've noticed pagerank changes go up and down between toolbar upgrades. Everyone just take a breath! :D

    But this is not a full toolbar update :) and the changes can be seen in the toolbar...

    meaning that Google has gone to special effort to show these downgrades in the toolbar over anything else :eek:

    google will only downgrade all PRs until they all go to 0 - i've had a blog go from PR3 to PR2 to PR1 in like a week :/

    I would be more worried about the datacenters showing fewer indexed pages, as that is way more important than PR

    Well, this is why when you choose link exchanges you research if they sell\buy links or not. Its not easy, but even if you don't buy or sell text links your PR can be effected my inbound links that do.

    I have not had any change in PR to any of my sites in nearly 6 months despite having far more links pointing at my sites now than I did then.

    I'm glad they are finally making the PR worth something, no longer will paid linkers hold the high PR reigns.

    2 of my 3 legit blogs lost one Toolbar PR point today. My "less legit" sites show no change. As I have observed previously in this round of Google updates, it looks like a pirate's life for me.

    it'll land on everybody's head so we should just move on and make another ranking system and dodge google's bomb lol

    the love for competition for the human race is causing us to act this way

    I guess I am in good company - see Andy Beard's post at http://andybeard.eu/2007/10/pagerank-update.html for some big name sites that have taken it in the shorts. Some examples:
    John Chow PR6 -> PR4
    Engadget PR7-> PR5
    Joystiq PR6 -> PR4
    Washington Post PR7 -> PR5
