And you think very well tony. It's not the holly grail, but a pro look will help to sell a little more.

I wish I could take credit for that. But I have humbly learned from the gurus here at DP. It pays to read the posts here. musiclovr.com has benefited greatly from tips here just over the past months.

They'll look and "smell" like bans. Just one advice to everyone who use bans, please, but please edit your layouts and make some new, it's not suficient to alter colors and headers. See the example of this bans user:
    http://www.getaracecar.com/
    http://www.homegrownsushi.com/

I know everyone wants to do quick sites, but it's important to give more time to each bans site and change everything in the layout. You'll get much better results.

    My latest BANS sites:

Shelby Cars and Kit Car Sales.

While I agree that BANS sites tend to look alike, I think it's more about the niche focus that people use. I see ALOT of BANS sites that aren't really niches, they try to focus on too broad of a topic.

The temptation to just put up a BANS site and not provide any content or do any SEO is also too great. Spend a bit of time and craft your site. Put up some articles and spruce up the joint a bit. :)

Thanks for this info - I'm new to this kind of site had have been wondering exactly about this. In the end it comes down to conversions and hell if I can crank out 3 of these sites / day with little customization and they convert - then I want to do that! But in doing my 1st site I'm already in my 2nd day and I think I'll have at least 1 more day's worth of work with SEO & promotion. You two make me think I'm not wasting my time.

It's never a waste of time, and when you build a bans site (yes, even a bans site) you should allways build it to last long in the search engines.

This all looks well and good. I made a site "from scratch" with what I know about html, ect. I sort of like it, on my 50th or so redesign, but I think I might give the old BANS a shot. Might make my site a little easier to configure.

Thanks for all the ideas and information.

That awful banner in your header isn't exactly the best way to get people to buy from your site... It also seems to be stopping your pages from loading ... it's hanging while loading something from "content.yieldmanager.edgesuite.net" for me (in FF anyway).

My site is trustworthy! You should buy from me!!!!

One of my first BANS sites...

Since I don't post much I have to add the link in the following way: gps-unlimited dot com

Thinking of changing the overall item layout and adding additional content items.

Yes... get rid of this. Being obnoxious does not help the situation in trying to get people to click on ads. Not to mention, its hard as heck to read bouncing text if one were to focus on it at all.
