I've only had a few problems with vista where i had a lot with XP. Vista doesn't give you some of the extended control XP does though.

I still remember XP took few time before gaining trust among user. It will be the same for vista where improvement is on the way. by the way i use Vista for the moment, and it slower than XP :)

I have Vista. But it makes no significant difference for me. I tried Aero and now swithed to basic and still dont see any noticeable difference. Aero is totally useless except for the first few days. And when you open lots of windows, I noticed some slowdown - after a long run. It may not be directly realted to aero but produces less memory leaks (i think) which helps improve stability and performance.

Vista is nothing more than other XP and even looks arent so much different :) some more bull added and that's it.

Im running Vista with 2GB memory also and its great, I don't know why it works bad for some people when it works great for me.

Its also much faster then XP ever was for me but maybe its because i ran XP with 256mb memory on my old comp.

I do not see why someone would say 2000 is better when it was the upgrade from 98....the OS that gave MS a bad name for having bugs.

Windows 98 and 2000 are not the same.

Windows 2000 was the upgrade from Windows NT 4, NT 4 was the upgrade from NT 3.51.

The introduction of the NT kernel to the general consumer was Windows 2000, upgraded then to XP and now the evolution of that is right now Windows Vista.

because it has been reworked...upgrade means it has been revised

Exactly which simply means that reworking an OS is better than an Upgrade (service pack) which means Vista is better. My Vista laptop did not even have Vista preinstalled. It was an express upgrade. And it works just as well as if Vista was preinstalled.

    I'm glad I have an XP :)
When my parents bought a new desktop they had to buy Vista :(

If someone has to buy a new computer, does a choice still actually exist?

i Voted for Vista -> 1st I am Microsoft certified technology Specialist (Vista)
so my Vote is obvious , 2nd thing is Vista provides High quality Security @ local Level as well as Network level and if you have recommended Configuration you will Feel the difference Why Microsoft Advertised Vista so High .
its a just a voting thread otherwise i would have described some very good Features anyways VOTED for VISTA.

    I am N00b
    Regards
