What will happen is some brainy geeks will take the phone apart and after a bit of welding and firmware fiddling they will turn it into an ad free phone. Then this information will be posted on some geeky blog and some reader will decided to digg it and it will appear on the front page of digg and then everyone will start doing it and then some webmaster will start a forum about Google phone hacking and then there will be another story on Digg along the lines of "Google no longer offers free phones"...

    Creepy! LOL

    :)

I imagine they'd be text messages or they'd come in the form of audio messages that must be played before picking up your voicemail.

Can we help it if our nature is telling us to mess around with you? I think not :D

But yeah, I am a big fan of free stuff, but if you read the fine print and look at the big picture nothing is really free. They just jack up the usage charges or overtime charges to get there money back. Google is not stupid so...

    :D

I don't mind using advertising supported cell phone for free unless the advertisment is irritating.

You may be right about that. I'm sure there's all sorts of stipulations which would make it questionable.

However, I also think Google would realize that people won't go for it if there are too many annoyances with it. Maybe you'd be charged a certain amount (like using Virgin Mobile pay as you go plan) for out of network and it would be free for others using google Mobile. :)
