It does not seem to be a big issue as the objectivity behind this whole scenario is to limit websites and increase PPC revenue and similar There are many avenues to drive along with trees and flowers lining the sidewalks and they will continue to flourish and prosper We have to drive along to pastures new, but remember it takes time and effort But believe me whats happening is no big deal
So very true but how long will it take some people to get out in their car and start it so they can smell the roses. worrying about any related issues will only bog you down, the big master is changing the rules and wants to play monopoly.

You don't need proof because this is logical If PR7 is pointing at you and becomes PR5 it will no longer spread PR7 don't you think ?
The PR drop on web directories wont have any greater affect than the PR drop on all the other sites. Many other sites has dropped PR, as long as nobody notices a SERP change things will remain the same. It just makes google look dumb when the algoritm isnt balanced.
linux.org was pretty much expected! look out the sponsored links at the bottom! am sure that was what matt was referring in his paid links post!
This is what i was thinking. Funny how sites like linux, accessiy, webdirectory.com all dropped PR when they were selling links...
Well... 1. Yahoo 2. dmoz 3. business.com 4. clush have not changed ... so its was hand edited so as to roll out thier new bid for adwords thingy... PR chasers will care ... the rest will still submit as they arent chasing the PR thx malcolm
hello... Show me the thread where someone posted this.. Sites listed within WILL NOT lose any PR or anything off the sort If anything they are trying to sway more attention to thier new ADWORDS ... where you can BID to be on any site... thx malcolm
It is not only happening to directories, only site of mine changed is not a directory and went to a PR2 from a PR3. As long as PR is reduced across the board I don't think it is a very big deal... Google probably just wanted to take advantage of all the PR chasing and make PR look more valuable, there were way too many high PR sites and it cheapened their image.
i think google is changing his pr alogartihm. i think, we all will be affected by those, its about time we get used to it, and look it the bright site, i think all link price will drops. lol
why would it drop? It still takes me the same amount of time to do the reviews.. IF anything the Price of PR just went UP! lol thx malcolm
I guess people are going to start using that nofollow thing. I've heard that people can sell links and if they use the nofollow thing, then Google won't mind.
I think it will mostly effect the very high-end link prices, by the looks of this udpate there will be very few PR7+ sites floating around the web. This update might actually cause the prices of links to rise, a lot of folks will be spooked into thinking the lower PR is due to link sales so they might stop selling which should create a higher demand than supply. I just read dozens of posts about PR falling on sites that never bought or sold links so I don't think this has anything to do with penalties, looks more like an overall adjustment.
I was referring to this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=526596. That thread began with a discussion of directory PR drops, but then it was realized that some non-directory sites were also experiencing PR drops. But my original statement is still correct - When some big sites have PR drops, the effect will gradually spread to all other sites on the internet.
Hey is this a Google PR section or Directories - I think we need to stay on topic and how directories are affected. If you want to ramble about PR in general, place posts in the Google section. For me I have seen my main directories drop 2 PR spots. I have 2 PR4 directories that are still the same. Crazy how directories have been leveled out. Whatever google is doing on directories is working. Subscriptions that I have for text links on directories that are now PR3-4 will be cancelled. Wow how the directory game has changed.... Most of people that pay to get listed in my directories are only concerned about PR even though its importance is limited... What does that mean for my directories now.... I dont think I am going to get much more listings but then again some of my directories have higher PR than alive and stuff - just CRAZY!
google actually cheats people, as most of the adwords users think that their serps and pr get improved from adwords, but it dosenot! about yahoo directory etc, i guess it's google's limitation, google is not strong enough to destroy it's diplomatic relations with yahoo and the other big ones!
That thread points to creeds post... I dont think so... i just checked my PR stats with my PR updater tool and the only thing that dropped where a few directories and not much else.. thx malcolm
