I wrote the above because you obviously have no clue to what a Christian is or what the verse you quote was in reference to. Go back and read the verses before and after the one you wrote and tell me what Christian is told to kill someone in those verses. This shouldn't be too hard for a learned Biblical expert like yourself or even one who never-ever read a verse before.
just take a bible cross out what you think is not valid no more? you are the one that keep on saying this is not valid and things like that so why catholics are not christian as you have said before?!
What in the world are you reading? I never wrote that it was not valid, maybe gworld did, he writes that kind of stuff. I won't cross out or add to anything the Bible says. Simple as that. The catholic church isn't Biblical in its creation, besides that you misquoted me.
Maybe English isn't your first language, so I will give you some grace on this. Here is what you quoted from the Bible. Now, who was this instructed to? Hint: which specific group of people?
Correct, English isn't my native language. However, should you really be the one judging my English? I mean, your grammar isn't that impressive, quite the opposite. I sometimes find it hard to understand what you mean, and obviously I'm not the only one. Anyway, you still don't get it, eh? Mia wrote: Christianity does not teach things like taxing non-christians, or killing non-christians... Nothing in the "Bible" about head removal, last I checked.. The Quran on the other hand, which you so gladly professed you've never even read, does profess these things and more. My response: Quote from the bible which basically says "people who sacrifice to false Gods should get stoned to death". Now, what is it you don't understand?
My grammar isn't say - that of one who is an expert, but I think you would find my grammar to be quite prudent to the English language. And your point to the verse and Christians is? Look at when the verse was written and to whom it was written, that will give you an understanding that may help you in your argument. If you want a command that was given for Christians and for today you need to look at something Jesus said for starters. If you look at the old testament you need to keep things in context of who the command was to, it isn't complicated at all when you read the passages in context. Many commands in the old Testament were for specific people at a specific time.
My point? Oh please, you're driving me insane. The Quran: Writes about killing people who sacrifice to false Gods (not sure about this, but I'll look it up soon). The Bible: Writes about killing people who sacrifice to false Gods. Although I'm aware of when and to whom the commands of the Deuteronomy was written, it doesn't hide the fact that the Bible, more specifically the Deuteronomy, contains sentences about killing converters, which was MY POINT from the beginning. May I add that I'm NOT a Muslim nor a Christian, and neither do I have anything against religious people.
I am not sure if anyone has read this quote of the bible, but this shows one of the main teachings of Jesus Christ. As you see by this quote, he does not allow people to hurt other people i.e. against capital punishment, adultery etc. [http]scriptures.lds.org/john/8
Jesus Christ may have been a great man, but that doesn't make my above statement false. The Deuteronomy has actually nothing to do with Jesus, he wasn't even born when it was written.
I find one point here interesting...first of all, Christians (and jews) do not use this verse to justify killing people today, in this day and age. Yet, we have heard "death to the infidels" broadcast many times. Second, those verses in Deuteronomy were given to the Jews that lived at that specific time. Go back and read my first point if you want to understand that fully.
Have I EVER written that Christians justify killing people by using these verses? NO, I simply quoted the Bible. By adding the words "Yet, we have heard 'death to infidels' broadcast many times" to your previous post I feel that you're trying to manipulate people to think that Muslims are and have been the only ones to justify killing people through religion. Crusades The Deuteronomy is a part of the Bible. Simple as that. A personal reflection - The Ten Commandments were also given to the Jews, but you don't mind living by them (although I doubt you do)?
How did Jesus feel about tactical bombing and occupation? The great irony of organized Christianity is that men decide to interpret the will of god and enforce it upon earth. From the Crusades to the Inquisition, from the slaughtering of the American Indian to the tactical bombing of Iraq. I saw this thing with this Hagee guy on TV, and all of his adherents were weeping about the Jews in Israel. A bunch of country friend bumpkins, all worked up about the end of the world, and Islamic evil. Little do they know that Israel has a potent military, very high tech, and apparently the nuclear capability to wipe out the middle east and europe. And all I could think as I watched these inbred fools on TV was, "This is not what Jesus was talking about. Jesus was the Prince of Peace. He died for other people's sins. He never struck back. He never demanded that anyone convert before he would heal or help them."
