As above guys. I am struggling at present to get one of my sites (a Uk niche jobsite) to the top of the serps. Im trying to improve PR substantially (the usual methods) but of all the paid submissions I have done...this is the one I am baulking at because $299 is a lot of cash for not even guaranteed inclusion While I think my site would/should be accepted, is it worth it if I am already indexed comprehensively in Yahoo? I mean in terms of PR and trust gained from the listing? or would I be best to spend the cash on links on high quality, high PR related sites instead
To be indexed at yahoo has nothing to do with being in yahoos directory. Use the money on high quality links instead.
My bad, indeed its paid inclusion I was referring to! Still, had my site not been indexed in yahoo....listing it in there directory would have sorted it Links it is then...!
IMO, a Yahoo! directory listing is a more trusted and valuable asset than several listings in lesser known directories. Google wouldn't mention it by name on their guidelines if they didn't consider it worthwhile. As far as PR goes, bear in mind that a Yahoo! listing appears in all their country specific versions of the directory too. If your site represents a brick and mortar company, you may also get regional listings too. You could end up with a lot of links for your listing.
IMO No. If you are in long term maybe but don't expect to see any brilliant results overnight. It's a very trusted backlink but if you are getting a business up and going there are much better spots to spend the money imo. Rob
Well break $299.00 down into 12 months = $24.91 monthly and see if that helps motivate you.. thx malcolm
It's one of the most valuable links ever. To make the long story short = YES; it is well worth it (if you're selling your own products; if you are an affiliate you may have to reconsider).
its a username that was free no..I dont consider myself a daddy of SEO at all. but I do have a PR 6 design article site that I have owned and run since 2001. So I do have an idea. This job site is being a stubborn ***** though... and I think it is because of the php script it is based on not being up to the task....we bought it 2 years ago to try it out...and just kept customising and before we knew it we had done too much. When the new site is donw, I hope we will hit higher up the serps with this site, but until then. Im looking for suggestions
Do you have a definitive answer on this then because I am curious? can you list any proof? some big and very successful sites I know arent listed in Yahoo directory......... instead $300 into 4 PR 8 high relevance .edu permanent links 'might' do me as much good in my experience
People who have the money get it because its a good ROI for them, and have seen several people here actually large directory owners who have said it is a good ROI.
Yea...I would say that is definitely a way better move than paying to get into Yahoo! P.S. Where the heck can I get a deal on links like that?
