Ask.com Ranking Updates

Not that it is a BIG deal as Ask.com only accounts for about 1-3% of the traffic on any of my sites, but I recently (in the last week) noticed a spike is rankings for keywords and indexing of pages. Is anyone else noticing this? I am hoping it will increase my traffic from Ask.com.

Good to know but most user prefer Google for searching...meaning less probability that you can have more traffic in Ask.com

Yeah, I know most people prefer Google, I always work on getting more traffic from Google and consider Yahoo, MSN/Live and Ask.com (and any other second tier search engine) just bonus traffic as it seems to never compare to what Google can send. It was just nice to see Ask.com FINALLY getting itself into the 21st century and starting to update it's database. While it may never be a big player, the engine is a nice alternative to Google.

Ask.com can tell you quite a bit about your position relative to your competitors in terms of which sites have the most relevant IBLs IMO. Even if it doesn't deliver the traffic of the big boys, it can be useful for SEO analysis. ;)

Ask is real slow to index

I just checked their results and they have indexed some domains that I have bought and 301'd to my site. That's messed up.

I run my reports from WebCEO, but you can use any ranking program or check them manually.

Ask has something like 2% of the market on a good day. Ask.com’s network of sites adds a 1% or so. Really not much traffic.

Yeah, but a lot of new reports are trying to say they have more like 11%. I'm sorry because I cannot find a link to that data right now, but thought it was interesting (maybe it was Hitwise data?). I am not sure how much truth is in the new 11%, but it seems they are growing - slowly, but growing.

Really Ask.com is slow in indexing. Yeah good to know if your keyword will rank but for how long that you will wait to have it.

Yeah, it is a little slow to index, but even after being indexed it seems to take forever to rank for anything. The ranking part is what I was amazed about which only seems to be happening on my older sites.
