You may have experienced this. If I look at Google Analytics I see the traffic curve is like a wave, goes up and down. Can somebody explain why this happens?

Have you dropped for any of your keywords?

Many of my sites have weekly trends (higher at weekends than weekdays or vice versa) - possibly your traffic has a similar cycle.

I have heard that google gives new sites a boost that decreases over time. I have also heard many people complain that there site moves all over the place in the ranking for no apparent reason.

Actually I have the opposite trend, higher on weekdays and lower on weekends.
Does it have to do anything with the date googlebot indexes site?

That's your reason right there - your rankings keep going up and down because you don't have enough backlinks.

It wouldn't go up if it was because of backlinks actually. Problem is it goes up, then goes down, then up.. like that. And the number difference is generally by hundreds. I have no idea why is it happening.

It depends on your ranking and the search volume for you keywords that you are targeting, maybe at weekends people wont be interested to search for that particular keywords or phrases so !!!
