One my sites ranked for a 3 letter keyword string and ranked around #4 -#9 until recently now it not even in the top 500.. I check using this tool http://www.ventio.se/seo-tools/google-position/ What could cause this? Google just decided one day..ah your site is not revelent and threw me off? wtf How can Fix this?
Is it a new or established site? could be sandboxed if its new, or maybe you have lost some backlinks... There are lots of reasons why you site may have dropped for that particular keyword. was your site seo'd for the keyword?
Most likely dependent on the age of the site. How old is it? What recent SEO activity have you done? Over the last month two of my newer sites (in competitive areas) have been moving all over the place after being released from the "sandbox".
Site is around 2 1/2 months old. 442 Y!links I haven't spent much time on it as the competion for this niched was small. I had it the 1st result for about 1 1/2 months and then recently it just went *poof* I am still getting alot of type in traffic though from previous visitors and people on other forums are putting my link around. Its a video game sprite related site. People use them to make flash animations etc. I did have a Hidden overlay div with some hidden keywords using section targeting, to alter the google ads. Becuase I was getting ads about firearms and military surplus.. for some reason. Totally unrelated, as the people coming to my site are teenagers mostly looking for sound effects and video game sprites. So I altered it to make animation and cartooning related ads with hidden keywords... I have removed that Div thinking maby that was the problem... Think maby google penalized for the hidden Div keyword stuffing?
looks like sandbox or google penalty, get some good quality keyword related backlinks and you will be back on track again soon.
Its very hard to determine exactly what this is. If you are still ranking for othr keywords for your site then you probably havent been penalized. Its not uncommon for a new site to fluctuate like that. Especially if its a3 letter word. Short words like that are most likely used on billions of sites. Hope this helps
Hi, recently, Google just updated its search engine archives and in the process, many websites are rearranged in their positioning. I am not sure if the tool you use is accurate. You can try using Mcdar.net. In any case, if your website is new, there is a likelihood that it will come back to rank you only later. New sites often get a surge and rank well for one or two weeks before heading downwards. In the meantime, keep building quality links and update your website regularly with fresh unique content.
