it's you who are taking it literally, or more precisely, You take some of it literally and then use an obscure rationalisation to make it fit in with current scientific evidence. If the bible says god created the earth in 6 days, And science say it took millions if years to form, It's an obscure rationalisation to claim that a "god day" is far longer than a human day. You are simply using obscure rationalisations to allow yourself to continue to believe something proven false by science. Not this crap again. Seriously, you are going to have to start paying attention. listen carefully. Half of the human DNA isn't the same as the banana , 50% of the banana DNA can be found in the human genome, Which would actually make us about 0.000001% banana. But this isn't surprising when we learn that the DNA that we share goes towards making cell casings and proteins. With every word you type you demonstrate with extraordinary precision exactly how little you know about the subjects you are attempting to refute.
saying "must" instead of "could be" completely obscures my point. That is just a dialogue correction which is meant to get us using the correct talking points. You heard of the saying "you say tomato, I say tomoto" well- you say obscure rationalisation, I say belief. Based on the literal words of that text, it is not true but based on a belief that God could be working on a different timeframe, it could be true and this is not just throwing a belief out there to fit, if there is such a thing- "belief logic" can lead to to say that this is possible from an Almighty God. If you look at the bible as a literary work you can see the first chapters as setting the tone for the main character being a magnificent, powerful, beyond our comprehension type of character.
Strange that god would use the exact same word we would use for 24 hours then isn't it? It's almost as if what you are saying makes no sense at all and all you are doing is creating rationalisations to make it appear that both "millions of years" and "6 days" could possibly mean the same thing, When to anybody reading it it obviously doesn't.
HA! As far as DNA is concerned I believe we are actually closest to the horse. As far as what time frame the Bible is speaking of it says "and the evening and the morning were the first day" which is the Jewish definition of a 24 hour day. So there is no quibbling over the definition of "day" because it is defined right there in the verse. Claiming Evolution somehow fits the Bible is saying that God can create an infinite universe but when it comes to life, the best he can do is a few acids. It's claiming God is infinitly powerful but it takes him billions of years to do anything. As I've pointed out, there's no reason to try to make the Bible fit the religion of Evolution. That's like trying to make Buddhism fit the Bible. It's unncessary and doesn't make any sense. All the verifiable science that the religion of Evolution bases itself on, is perfectly in unison with the Bible. The unverifiable parts of Evolution are just a religion based on the assumption that God doesn't exist and as such, doesn't belong in the classroom and is completely at odds with God. To believe in Evolution is to believe God doesn't exist. I'm still waiting for one scientific marval that the study of Evolution has given us.
I give up with you people. Let us know when you are done and the rest of us can have our planet back. In the mean time you carry on enjoying all the great things science has given while at the same time ungratefully spitting in it's face.
When I go to church I find a lot of nice songs to sing. Just wondering, when you go and meet your evolved friends what songs do you sing? Or better still, what songs do you sing to your kids? I don't know but I for one haven't heard any great songs about evolution. Perhaps it's not really an inspiring fact.
One famous Jewish dude who was imprisoned in a communist country (Romania) saw many dudes dying. The commuunists were imprisoning everyone (other communists and atheists as well). Anyway, he said he saw communists/atheists dying and crying out to God. Yet he said he NEVER saw one Christian dying and regretting he believed in God or Jesus. Not one of them said: "Man what a fool I've been for not believing in communism or atheism." Not a single one. Actually this dude is Romania's most translated author (Richard Wurmbrand)
Yes, the best is to let them pray their God, because anyway this fairytale is so well done that you can only die to find out, so no need to speak about it during life, only to say shut up anytime one lunatic comes up with a god topic. But in democratic countries which have mentions of religion, atheists should campaign very strongly for removal of slogans such as God saves the Queen for UK or One nation under one God for US. Because it is an alienation.
I wonder what your last words are going to be? Anyway, let me know if you've heard of anyone right before dying who regretted he was a Christian.
proteindude, my last word I don't care about them, I'm not afraid of dying because I don't have screwed up ideas about life, I'm not a stupid human thinking he's somewhat the center of the universe created by HIS god. I know that like other creatures when my brain won't have enough oxygen for a minute maximum then I'll be gone. Goodbye, and no I don't need to die to make sure there is no god elsewhere than in your head.
It is not in dispute that the bible says days, what this is about is believing that God could be on a differet timeframe. God works in mysterious ways? yes I'm writing about reading between the lines, sort of speak. There is no question that this the definition of a day. When you get into the depths of space there isn't that measure of a day available.

Are you not listening to what you are saying? How does the fact that christians sing songs in any way give it credibility? We have gone over this before, Stop repeating yourself.
Is that your only argument ? Singing songs and who's got better songs ? Dude, the discussion is about chromosomes and evolution.. Do they really TEACH you people to be intellectually challenged ? I would like to know.
Why would a Jew talk about the timeframe in anything other than their own measure of time? If it was more than one 24 hour period as measured by Jews at the time they would have said so. When science says that some astronomical event took place in X amount of days can you interpret that to mean millions of years because there is no concept of days out in space where the event happened? Obviously Evolution is wasting the time of scientists because no one can come up with a single scientific marvel that has been found by "scientists" trying to prove we came from sludge.
Science is about explaining things. Evolution explains the origins of the species with great ease and with great precision, It's just a shame you don't understand it enough to appreciate it. Your "god done it" idea on the other hand explains absolutely nothing while at the same time pretending to explain everything. It just give you an excuse to stop thinking. Why does it rain? god does it - no explanation at all Why does the earth revolve around the sun? god done it - no explanation at all who took my shoes? god done it - no explanation at all. All that happens when you say "god done it" is that the people who don't understand the scientific explanation have an excuse to stop thinking about it. that may have been good enough for primitive bronze age goat herders, but it's not good enough for me and it shouldn't be good enough for you.
Where in the Bible does it claim that God is purely responsible for the rain? Just because the Bible mentions that on occasion God directly does something, doesn't mean God always has to directly do it. Did God make it rain for the flood. Yes. Did God make it rain last tuesday when it rained. No. This is why I put you on ignore. You can't accurately represent the opposition because you don't even know what it is. There's no point in arguing against strawman arguments. Nevermind all the holes and baseless assumptions that would make the Greeks proud. What scientific advancement has come about because "science" claims to know where we all came from?
It was an example of how your premise can used to give a reason for something while not giving an explanation. Now answer the questions.
