whyt the long landing page

    it seems that every publisher likes to have a long pages with alot of fluff that takes hours to scroll down. do you think that most sales pages are a turnoff and would a shorter pages(1 or 2 down) would work better,.

    it is usually difficult to convince the visitors to purchase products with little information in small pages. ( unless it is a high demand product or it is already well known )

    I disagree...

    I believe that with good graphics and words you can make your visitors do whatever you want them to do - even to click 'next >>' to read more...
    I think most clickbank products has very bad landing pages. The graphics are bad and look cheap and sometimes the sales-pitch is not convincing at all.

    Must fully agree. You can monetize with short or long pitches. I find combining mid to long pages with outstanding branding to be the most effective. Will also agree about the product selection usually lacking the latter which turns consumers and you, the precious affiliate marketer, away from getting involved... Not to say that crappy designs + great copy doesn't work, just not as well IMO.

    I use a mid-length pitch.

    Most of my customers have never purchased an eBook before.... so they're understandably unsure about making the purchase.

    A short pitch won't sell the product.

    Customers need to know:
    1. What the product is
    2. Why the author/publisher is a credible source of information
    3. That their satisfaction is guaranteed
    4. How much the product costs

    Oh yes, and I have to explain that an eBook does not come from a bookstore or in the mail. :)

    ...and, on top of it all, make it exciting enough for them to WANT the product. It's hard to do with a shirt pitch.

    ....also, when customers DO read a long pitch, they become more attached to the product and they want to buy it more.

    And it's not just Clickbank products..... look at Amazon's Web Site. Every book's sales page is filled with detailed product info, reviews, return policy information, etc. etc. Amazon doesn't exactly use short pitch pages either.

    That said, I agree with you on the scrolling. Yes, too much reading can bore customers and cause them to click the "back" button. (That's why so many sites get carried away by using hyperbole, big font, crazy pictures, etc....)

    I once read a post where somebody said all Clickbank pitch pages look like, "Sleazy sales sites." (Many products are sleazy.) But I'm not sure how to make a product look serious and sophisticated... and still be able to reel in customers.

    I would be interested to see a carefully planned study on the length, design, and layout of Clickbank pitch pages. It would be interesting to see which advertising features really help a digital product convert into a sale.
