    Hello Friends,

I am buying a new laptop within 10 days so I need help from you for selecting a good laptop from me.

    My budget is 40,000 INR.

I have selected a laptop from HP.
    Model : Compaq Presario V3424TU
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/in/e...123071-1123071-1123071-80399812-80457279.html

It is costing round about 41,000 INR (1075$) including all taxes and VAT.

Should I buy this?? Any reviews on this lappy??

Do you have any other model in this price??

    Please give me your suggestion..
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks All,

What are you going to use it for? Gaming and work or just work?

There's nothing wrong with the laptop stats wise, but I'd do a search on Google for reviews before buying it. I also really recommend upgrading to 2GB RAM if you can afford it. 1GB is fast becoming the standard and you don't want to be forced to upgrade in a year's time, especially with a laptop.

I bought IBM about a year ago and it's excellent. As I know now you can't buy IBM, but you can take a look on lenovo - some of them are in your budget and as I hear they are very good.

does anyone know why 99% of all 'factory' LT's use 5400RPM drives instead of 7200?
It must be to conserve battery life?

I'd say Apple if it were an option as their laptops are miles ahead of any other, but if I had to choose one I'd say Dell. All of my PCs are Dells and I've had very little trouble with them -- they are built well and last a long time. The only annoyance is the relatively long delivery times (depending on where you live and what you order) and their support. You wait 45 minutes in queue to be told to restart your computer.

Lenovo/IBM is the Cadillac of laptops. For the budget you've stated you can get a great laptop from them.

Married my first lappy Isabel from fujitsu 12 years ago and we still happily married though most of the time when in bed we get snooze off easily while waiting ms word to start, than 5 years later into our marriage after trying so hard we finally decide to adopt a boy name mike (Toshiba) he all grown up today and like me and mom Isabel the boy can keep us waiting all night long for him to finally come back home (shutting down windows).

Last year a sad thing happen, while I was out for a dinner someone broke into my home and had kidnapped Isabel. Months I had search for her, than one day upon browsing through the local tech store, my eyes was fixated to one hot number. Her name Lindsay, have all the curve and you can see her eyes oh so deep. She my perfect replacement for my still missing wife Isabel and they share the same genes (fujitsu).

Till today she can keep me awake all night long in bed!

    Just a summary:

    1 - Fujitsu
    2 - Toshiba
    3 - Fujitsu N series

Can't complain, been using fujitsu and the only time I had to call tech is to get a replacement for my bat ;)
