Yeah, I get the message now also. I think that he didn't do a backup most recently, which sucks. I loved the tools on the site, especially the pagerank predictor.

Plus, the pagerank predictor was great. I was just about to use it when I discovered the site was down, so I searched for the term to see if anybody had already posted, and I came here!

Yeah - it's already 7:37pm (PST) - and they still are down. I wonder what the
total hack included, like attacking the database, user posts, and such...

Is this why my PAID, 1-year directory link is GONE for the SECOND time since paying in April? WTF?

I don't think hacking may be related to directory listings removal.
If it were removed in this manner, emails wouldn't have been sent.

Removal of link might be due to some problem in the script probably.
I too had the same problem btw

Off-topic, but how much is directory listing there, and did you see a real
NOTICEABLE valued backlink from them in your SEO?

I am happy that it is all good now. They explain very well on the homepage and it is really good that they had a backup copy. That should be a lesson to all webmasters.

    Hacked by brute force :D
Brute force (also known as brute force cracking) is a trial and error method used by application programs to decode encrypted data such as passwords or Data Encryption Standard (DES) keys, through exhaustive effort (using brute force) rather than employing intellectual strategies. Just as a criminal might break into, or "crack" a safe by trying many possible combinations, a brute force cracking application proceeds through all possible combinations of legal characters in sequence. Brute force is considered to be an infallible, although time-consuming, approach.
