    Hi

I'm about to start a transaction selling a website to a buyer, he wants to pay through PayPal and I'm very worried about the chargeback issue as its happened to me twice this year and i've lost around $5000. I'm trying to persuade him to do the transaction through E-Gold but it looks like he wants to stick with paypal. Is there a time limit that a buyer can do a chargeback? Say if he pays now and i send him the info in 24hrs will he still be able to chargeback or not?

I really don't want this to happen to me again. Some help would be great.

    Thanks

he will be able to do a chargeback for at least 30 days...possibly 60. If he doesn't seem like a good buyer, find another one that feels more secure.

If he does a chargeback, it is done through his bank so his bank would dictates the valid period for a chargeback. It may be anything from 45 days to 180 days. For that, there is no control on paypal's end.

If he want to use Paypal, make sure that you use the proper Email Invoice method and have all the documentations such as Invoices and prove of delivery ready. Read everything about Seller's Protection and you following them to the letter. Once the courier company has his signature that he receives the product, there is no way he can win the chargeback. If you cannot prove delivery then you are at the losing end.

Is he verified in the first place in paypal ? If you feel it is too risky, just tell him that you cannot accept his order and move on.

Its a website I'm selling so no delivery will be done, thats why I'm so worried. He only has one 1 iTrader so it looks like I'll have to take egold or find a new customer.

If the amount is big, the customer probably want to protect himself too because there is nothing to say that you will not run away with his money and offer him nothing. Since you are worried about him, he can be worried about you.

Paypal offers him a level of protection against non-delivery while egold offers the customer NO protection at all and he can lose everything with no recourse.

If the deal is over $500, use an escrow company.

Use escrow.com if you're suspicious and would like to pay small fees from your sale.

At least, its better than you have no money.
