Collecting e-mails, like from sign up newsletters is not the same. They already know you.

Skillipedia is talking about sending out e-mails to people that don't know about him.

I thought that was obviously clear.

    I agree with Stephen Doyle.

I don't use email marketing in a large scale (yet) but one of my clients uses it with great success with over 5000 subscribers.

When someone subscribes to your newsletter they do so because they want the information not ads.
Another thing is sending the newsletter on a regular bases. If it takes you months to send out newsletter it's easy for the subscribers to forget they ever visited your website and subscribed to your newsletter. In that case they may see your newsletter as spam.

I think the Majority of us are aware of it, we are simply trying to point out that he needs to STOP spamming & at least go with an Opt-in (E.g Newsletter).
Granted, it has been repeated over & over & Over again, just using different words..:D

Well, On my end & from what I have seen the others saying, they seem to be pointing out how he needs to utilize a newsletter with Opt-in for better results. (Thus eliminating his spam problem)

Now I could be mistaken on the % of people suggesting that in order to make it a majority. I still stand firm that thats what he needs to do though.

What I was saying was is it possible to have a successful email campaign using email addresses that you collect from your site, however you collect them?

Does any type of op-in email campaign actually produce?

I earn about a buck a month for each subscriber I have. I ONLY email people who have opted in to my lists. If it is done PROPERLY email marketing can make you a lot of money and on a fairly residual basis.

IMHO after marketing online for over 12 years if you are getting traffic and you aren't collecting email addresses you are sending potential repeat visitors and customers to your competition. I can promise you if you are in a competitive niche at all your competition is collecting names and email addresses and they are selling the people over and over again.

Do you use standard hosting for that, or have an agreement worked out?
I've seen spamhaus get 25+ servers knocked out for one misconfiguration that made the e-mail not compliant (wrong domain, still owned by the guy mailing).
The hosting was roasted in under 10 minutes.
