Probably buying from a spam network is a bad idea. Those are the guys who dont really take care of it. If they were running it properly, they could make much more money off the posts themselves.
And I disagree about the contextual link. It helps, and you need some high PR links to accompany a splog run, but it's definitely not better. Especially if you're blackhat, and need a bunch of pages indexed quickly. One high PR link doesn't make you get indexed near as quick, and affects only one page.
imho, it doesn't help ranking as much either. But to each his own.

Yeah, I just woke up. Let me break it down into the key points.
1)Buying spam blog posts is a bad idea.
Anyone who is selling them, probably isn't taking care of their blog farm well enough. If they were, they would profit more by USING the blog farm(themselves, rather than RENTING the blog farm.)

2)You said a High PR, $50 contextual link would be better than a blog farm.
I disagree. I agree that a good, high PR run could HELP a blog farm run, but by itself, it's not better. With a properly indexed farm, you index faster, and rank higher.

2, continued) If the person is a blackhat SEO person, they typically build a LOT larger sites than whitehats. If you have a blog farm of say, 3,000 blogs, you can set each one to link to a different page on your site. That leads to each page getting indexed quite quickly. If you purchased one high PR link, you can only point that link to one place, which leads to one page getting indexed. Granted, with the high PR link, EVENTUALLY the rest of the site will get indexed, but in blackhat, speed is the name of the game.

Well I don't know I don't get into any of the low quality stuff like that. We have clients purchasing our contextual links and there ranking very high on highly competitive key terms cause everything is unique this is a proven fact and any seo would know this.

The bottom line is stay away from duplicate content if something is saying its 30 dollars for 200 blog post or whatever its junk - bottom line. You get what you pay for if you expect to increase your ROI on that then your crazy you will not build any thing profitable from that.

Its just common sense. I'm directing this towards every one that uses such networks carry *NO VALUE* what so ever. Good links cost you anywhere from $20 plus per link.

BTW you said if its properly indexed there no such thing as propely indexed or trying to beat the filter. No offense to you, but just buy good links and put money into good unique links. Other wise don't expect to have very high profits.

We agree on something! (yeah, I have my tricks though)
I have 2 things to say to that
1)Hello there sir, welcome to web2.0. Would you like to enter? ...That's terribly old fashioned thinking.
2)While I still believe that was old fashioned thinking, given your job, you're right. You have an obligation to clients to do actual organic links. If google detects the blog farm(low chance, but still a chance), it's simply not fair that your client would get nailed from the fallout. Now, for self-promoting SEOs, it's different.

It's a good idea if you don't like Google traffic.

People like me can sell posts or blogs. I'd reccomend buying unused blogs, not the posts. Blogs gives you more control than one post.
Just make sure to maintain it properly, and not let them go to shit.

They do raise ranking, but if your trying to get good traffic you will have to invest more then 50 dollars into them. Also you'd be a lot better buying them from a broker reason being is because they keep track of your links and generally have large inventories, plus the links are edited by humans that are well experienced and trained.

Not all links, but a lot of links you will find on digital point (no disrespect to anyone), but are spammy. Focus on links that are unique and one of a kind.

Bia bia. Google traffic still flows. I wouldn't use it as your primary link source if you're planning on long term. Partial is still ok. But yall are paranoid.

I have a small blog network - it is only 10 blogs but it works for what I want from it.

I make posts to promote my own sites, some posts are across all 10 blogs, most posts are only on 3 or 4 blogs. By mixing it up and making sure that different posts are on different blogs it has proven to be fairly effective at getting sites indexed.

As long as when you visit each blog in a network that it has a large number of different posts on each of them then you will still gain some value from the posts. If you visit some of the blogs in a blog network only to find that the front page has 20+ posts on it that are identical to other blogs then the links are probably not worth a great deal.

I have a couple of regular people who purchase posts from me and have been doing so for several months - if there was no value in what I do then I guess these regulars would look elsewhere to promote their sites.

Someone offering a single post across 10's or 100's of blogs, regardless of the number of IP addresses is nowhere near as valuable as having a post on a smaller number of blogs in the long run.

I am sure that everyone who runs a blog network for the purpose of promoting their sites knows full well that it is a splog/spam network - but it has a simple purpose - getting sites indexed and it is quite effective at this task.

Uniqueness + IP is the key for success in this world of blogs networks . If you post to blog farm try to be unique in IP and also Posts it will help in PR juice and everything

Take a look at socialblogtrust(dot)net. Here you can post to blogs with the permission of blog owners. They receive quality post and you receive a link pointing back to your site.

Wow, lots of info provided, thanks guys...not sure all of it was on topic (lol)...but I think i understand the different 'concepts' better now...good enough to give it a try :)

and for those wonder, or who care (not many probably, lol)...if I do make one...it will be one for more contextual, quality links/posts...i won't be selling 'get your article on 300 different blogs'...;)...I just like to blog...so i figure i can try and make some money out of it

Okay I'm pipping in on this conversation because alot of people have no clue what they are talking about... First I not only run a blog network but one of the biggest one on DigitalPoint
If you have a new site and you want to get index in under a day come see me you site will be indexed in under 24 hrs just by one post.
Now my blog network also gets TONS of google traffic just like ezinearticles gets tons of google traffic- they dont have new content they have duplicate content like everyone else- People use the articles off ezinearticles just like everywhere else. There is no such thing as original content- How many times do you hear of people stealing other peoples content and ranking better for it in search engines.
Now in terms of IP- People love talking about unique IP but fail to realize that your hosting company hosts other sites so you may have 200 sites sharing your Ip that you dont even about.
Please realize that even though to you and I 600 blogs or websites seem HUGE in googles eyes its minature because there are over 300 million websites and new ones coming online daily.
I've had people report huge traffic increases and one even reported jumping from 465 to position #5 for a keyword.
I also do use the network to build my own sites and promote them but I make a good living selling to others as well.
Google loves links- No such thing as a Bad link unless the site is banned.

People also use the argument of all these links hitting google at once- People spiders visit websites on a schedule, more often site is updated more often spiders visit- Just cause I put a link to you on my website doesnt mean it will be counted today by google may not count for 3 months so not all my 600 links are going to hit google at once, they might trickle in- In 2 months you might start ranking for the keywords you bought a post from me for 2 months ago. Its a process not an overnight fix but it most definately helps

Think of it as putting out a Pr release or something on PRWEB and it sending it to tons of sites on the web.

I hope you weren't talking about me when you said that bud.
For your IP point, very true for indexing. And same IP passes google juice. But out of billions of websites, the chances of those 300 people on your same server all linking to you are low. Unique IPs are best, and this is well documented. But people DO give same IPs less credit than they should.
And thank you GOD for that unique content comment. Google's unique content filter is a joke. I alter the articles a little bit, but that's mostly to prevent people from bitching about me jacking content(harder to find). But I'll be honest. My content source? Blogspot. I have 18k entries archived, and that should reach 100k by the end of the day. Am I worried? helllllllll no. Unique content won't bust me, people won't bust me, and to google, it looks like a legitimate viral effect.
Glad to have another realist here.

No wasnt talking about you xmcp123 was just talking in general. Alot of unreal people are on the forums thinking google cares about my 600 blogs having the same content when ezinearticles and some of those others submit to 40,000 publishers the same content. I want everyone to make key note of something important- when you go to ezinearticles which literally gets over 7 mill google people monthly they give you the articles for free to post on your site with one catch, post thier link and the persons links intact- same article on tons of websites. Ezine articles gets tons of free links-
Blog networks are literally just a cheap way instead of you finding 600 websites and convincing 600 webmasters why they should link to you under certain anchor text. I just saved you 6 months and lots of heartache if you pay me $30 bucks- Life doesnt have to be hard- we just think if we dont do it the hard way we dont deserve the results... Now here is the catch- Outside of coming to this forum how can google prove you paid me to put it on my 600 blogs- They can't I could have gotten the same article from ezine article and posted it on my blogs as content...
