Blogs take a longer time to age, so wait and watch and keep tweaking is the only answer right now, of course keep adding content on daily basis, the meaning of blog itself is content updation, so the search engines will keep coming faster, the more faster they come, the more number of visitors they send to you
Blogs, They are successful if they have good n readable content. Blogs are meant to be for content/sharing content/views. Unless content is good enuff, visitors wouldnt prefer to hang on. Ads are OK, but placement of Ads w.r.t to the visitors comfort is required. But then, All comes down to content, If your blog has something worth reading, trust me you can win 1000's of visitors per day
Blogger is quite hard to optimize considering you have little control to the tags inside the <head> tag. With that said, blogger is still the best for freebies. Customizing the adsense placement is easier using the old template of blogger. You could switch it back to the old xhtml version instead of the new xml version. It's as easy as reading html.
Have you tried social media optimization for getting traffic . if not then your should try to do this.
