Selling Value of Link Bid Directories

I want to get rid of my link bid directory, but I am having some trouble. I am not getting any bids, but I believe my prices are very reasonable.

    Site is PR3, 2000+ backlinks, 100 visitors a day.

I have made $60 from the site ($50 in the past month).

What is this site worth? At first when I tried to sell it, I asked for $300, but got nothing. I now have it for sale with a starting bid of $50, but no one bid again. Is this site really not worth $50?

This is not just another way to promote my sale, I am more asking a question. I know the site is not establish, but since I average $30 a month, could I not get at least $150 for it (5X revenue)??

Not sure if others see it but the menu seems to be squashed where i can not read it properly ?

not answering your question direct just something i noticed
also it seems very new with no sold or sponsered links, this may be another factor.

I'm supprised. You should get more then $50. This is better than most sites out there. If I were you, I would put it on ebay. Best wishes. If you want to get rid of it cheap let me know.

Try auctioning it on Sitepoint maybe you will get something for it. Also, what was the promotion that you did for your bid directory previously?

All promotion was through other directories, and linkbacks from blogs, with a bit of StumbleUpon and DP.

I was going to try sitepoint, but I was going to give DP a few more days.

A new design would do wonders, current one is a bit too sloppy looks like it was done in 1999. The domain has nothing to do with a bid directory, what you did was just add a script to the domain that already had PR. Now that PR might go away after the next PR update whenever the hell that will be, so people are scared of buying right now, and loosing that PR in who knows how long might be 2 days might be 2 months.

Yes I agree with Sasa, Get a nice custom theme done on your site, place some bids on other bidding directories (promote) & once u have some more traffic, then try to put the site on auction :)

Sasa is right. You have to assess the value of your assets

Domain - i would say its worth about $10 as it has some PR. Its not really branable and has nothing to do with bid directories.

Design - To be honest its pretty awful. I have seen free themes i like more than that, so I would say the design is worth $20-$40 as you said its xhtml and unique.

Traffic - Your lack of sales are probably due to low traffic. So many people think they can start a bid directory, post it on DP and in their sig, and get bids of $xxxx like the major bid directories do. It just isnt going to happen. You need quality traffic to get bids like that.

Promotion - How much have you invested in the site? How many people know of your brand? How many bid directories have you bidded on? how many paid directories did you submit to?

Revenue - How much do you think you may earn next month? If someone buys it, will they make anything from it?

People think they can end up making $xxxxx like the big bid directories do, but after 2 weeks of no investment they wonder why they have no bids. Then they decide to sell and get made when they cant get a good price. If i was you i would re-consider selling. Perhaps try adding unique content to the site and make it useful, build traffic and resources, and continue to gain backlinks.

To be honest, i would rather spend $300 in a new bid directory myself than buy that. I could get a better domain, the better script (IMO) and almost afford a custom design.

You have to consider if you were someone else, how much do you think you could make from it, and therefore how much would you be prepared to pay based on potential income, and the sites current assets which dont come to much.

Thanks for all the comments. I will (finally) take everyone's advice and try to 2.0 the design a bit. The redesign is currently in progress if you want to check it out.

I am not looking to get very much for the site, I would be happy with $100.
