Pretty new to the Affiliate thing. What I have is a product and I want to allow others to be distributors/affiliates(?).

I use e-junkie and I set up an affiliate thing thru them and you can specify percentages etc right there. So is that the best way to go about it and then offer it out there for people to become affiliates?

I really don't want to pay and sign up for the big affiliate programs due to the cost is not really worth it I don't believe.

    Tks

Have you tried looking for independent affiliate scripts?

You could try looking on Hotscripts to see if there are any free ones, however most of the best ones are bound to be commercial, hence you'll have to buy a license to use their script/software. This still could be a cheaper alternative to setting up through one of the big boys. However, it would probably be much harder to build a trusting business relationship with an independant program.

Alternativly you could use a dropshipping system. People take sales through their own website and collect the customer data + payment (usually say with 10% extra than you charge), they enter customer delivery details into your site, you deliver to customer. You make sale, seller makes 10% profit. Usually an agreement is in place whereas you would sell at another 5-10% discount as incentive, but thats all part of the negotiation. This can probably be done with a unique voucher code, but be sure not to have it leaked ;)

Two of the best free shopping carts out there are OsCommerce and Zen-Cart, both of which come with plugins to make these types of programs easy to deal with. Both come from the same line of software producers too and can be SEO friendly for that extra added sales traffic.

    Good luck,

Sorry, misread your post. Your wondering how to get people to sign for your affiliate program? Social networking my friend, its something that is going to have to be done gradually over time. If you have a good product then I'm pretty sure word of mouth will be your best marketing strength ;)

If you don't want to pay then what will happen when it comes to paying your affiliates?

What I said was I don't want to pay those sites that you sign up for just so people can go there and be affiliates. What I want to do is do it myself that way I cut that cost out. And when it comes time to pay the affiliates they will get paid. So no need to question by business ethics.

    Hi hand!
if you want to get affiliates quickly you SHOULD use big affiliate networks, but you will have to pay (signup, monthly fee, add-on, etc.). As you already told that you would like to save money, then you could look for newer affiliate networks which are currently small but growing.. I recommend you to take a look at Click2Sell affiliate network. You'll be able to signup and add your products free. The only fee you'll have to pay using this system is 1-3usd per sold product + affiliate comissions (it depends on you what percentage you'll give). If there are no sales - there are no fees. So it's good, but keep in mind that you may have to wait a little bit for a first sale, because small amount of affiliates is a drawback for this moment. Anyway, it has + because it will cost you nothing at the beginning.
    Good luck,
    Regis
