I don't like the idea that you're only willing to share knowledge for profit and that you make that perfectly clear. Do you charge for street directions when asked?

A freelancer offers service and you automatically call him a scammer with no knowledge of his work or ethics? Don't be childish. If I gave everyone that asked free advice, I would be giving advice 40 hours a week and not working.

The point is that we don't just come here and say "hey, I can help... but only for money!" (where 'help' is advice or actual code).

You'll find that a lot of the people that are here to help are also professional developers and we are not asking for cash to do so. To me, it's offensive to come here and basically imply that you're here to help when you really aren't. You're here to earn. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you're in the wrong place to do so.

Basically, Notting hit the nail on the head. If you want to pimp your services, post in the correct forum. If you don't want to do that, well...

No, he said dont contact him for free help. For all we know, he may have a history with working open source software or he could even be helping other in his own free time. I simply say to be careful not to judge because we really don't know.

    Huh?

Exactly. Not free help = paid help

It doesn't matter what he works on or has worked on. He wants to sell his service here, which is basically what TwistMyArm is saying.

So people here should pay him to get their code, while he does other coding for free for others?

I'm not trying to sound harsh, but your post doesn't make any sense to me.

I see what yall mean, just be careful with the word "scammer". Strong word. A word that can ruin a person. The guy might be a helluva coder and that word is a bad choise I think. Call it "cheapskate", but "scammer"...not good choice of wording.
