Should I buy BANs?

Discussion in 'Commission Junction' started by richkid, Oct 18, 2007.

    Hey,
I have been hearing so much about BANs that I am now seriously considering buying a copy.

On my blog (blog post here) I am having a poll asking my readers if I should buy it or not, and I would love your opinion.

If I do buy it, I will be detailing the whole process...

    So should I get it?

Buy it. It pays for itself in the amount of time it saves you if you were to build everything from scratch yourself. Just don't try and host your BANS sites on GoDaddy. You might try integrating it with your acne blog and see if you get some sales of ProActiv, etc.

Id buy it, I took the dive and spent the $. This last 2 weeks made about $400 in sales and sign ups. Thats with PPC so probably only $300 profit but it certainly paid for BANS.

thats a good result. And a lot of people have been saying buy it. But there have been a few that say it is easy enough to make something similar myself.

Im not that technical, so I am still leaning towards buying it.

All I've read are success stories. Take a look through this forum. Everyone is having good luck. I'm making between $50-200 a day from my BANS stores. It's absolutely 100% worth the money.

Any particular reason for that recommendation?

I think it's something to do with curl setopts or DB queries. The long and short of it is BANS runs *ridiculously* slow on Godaddy hosting.

I ended up switching to Hostgator and have had no issues.

Godaddy is NOT the place to host your sites. There are plenty of other places that provide better costs and performance for the money.

When you say that, one would expect you to give particular reasons and offer at least an alternative, otherwise that would be a cheap statement to post. I am with godaddy, and well you are saying that they are bad. I may consider switching but why? And to what?

I have read, and tried godaddy myself (I have all my domains on godaddy so I am not opposed to godaddy), and it's really bad hosting. I don't give any alternatives because I don't want to seem I am promoting any given hosting service.

Reasons? Issues relating to making it easy to install some scripts such as BANS and slowdowns on many sites when trying to do certain calls. I have had bad experiences before with other types of scripts and some that while fast on our own servers was terrible on godaddy for speed and access. I am not going to cite exact details as it could make for a long post and unnecessary.

One can also search sites such as webhostingtalk or perhaps even here if you want to find a good host at a good price.

I wasn't taking a cheap shot at godaddy. I use their domain services, and even promote them for such as an affiliate. I just giving my opinion based upon experience and what I have read others (I trust) that have had issues.

I purchased bans a couple of days ago. It was a easy to install.

Had one minor glitch, probably host specific, which tech support quickly gave a solution to.

No sales yet, but I have hopes.

The included instructions are pretty clear on which file to change (cont.php, the file which is stored online with your host), just re-read the pdf. Change the permissions via FTP software or cpanel and try again.

I'd seriously be careful about posting your stores on the forum. There are those around who would copy your niche, your content, and your marketing at the drop of a hat.
