I'm not new to hosting, i owned Unlimited Hoster and unlimited hosting company and i talk from experience that unlimited hosting companies won't last. Your little company won't last more then 3-6 months i bet. and anyone offering unlimited space and bandwidth is not only lying to their customers but digging their own grave. Plus your P4 is basically shit, with only 1gb ram it'll be running on its last legs soon, and you can only sustain up to 2gb ram on a p4 i believe. If you really are going to offer unlimited hosting i suggest use a Xeon or opteron with 2gb ram at the least.
lol, i looked at your posts on web hosting talk and you didn't even know what managed servers and unmanaged servers were! You shouldn't bite off more then you can chew because you'll choke.
No one can learn everything and may be because of that, you lost your unlimitedhoster. I am learning everything , in the past few months I studied a lot. Also, no user is telling any negative opinion about me and my service. But what about shoutserv? Well, I think this forum is not for arguing between me and you. I hope we can make a better relationship. Thanks
Having good reviews when you don't have very few customers is easy you don't have enough customers to cause any issues. Once you start having a lot more customers and opened longer things won't be so easy. So on the software side of things what happens when you have that bad customer who runs some really bad scripts and manages to crash your server at 3am. Is someone going to be able to reboot it? If you run an automated reboot system what happens if the box must run a manual fsck on a partition? Will someone be there to run it or does anyone even know how to do it? So if no one is there is the box going to just come back online when the person who runs it is awake? With a situation like that happening it be pretty easy to lose all that praise. Also now lets factor in some hardware issues you can have. What happens if the switch your server is on dies? Are you prepared for the down time associated with it. This is a minor thing the data center will have to replace it. But still it's down time you're going to need to tell your customers about. Now here's a real test what happens if you lose a hard drive? Now I doubt you run raid so now do you have backups? How fast can you restore them? Are you prepared to be restoring sites for probably days on a low end box like that? So to summarize things you really get to understand how good a hosting company is when things go wrong. If they close up shop because of it, or if they disappear and do not respond to anything it really shows who they really are.
Hello, Thank you for the review, I like these types of reviews. Well, Let me tell about it. I am having three digit customers in numbers. This is not USA or UK. I am in India. There are some few hosting firms only who provide good hosting for cheap price. So I got very good number of clients for running my server smoothly. Also, no one can run a 500 Gb server without having customers lol Next, I am not allowing Warez,Adult,Proxy sites on my server and I am checking every account on each weekend for these types of things. May be , I can find it out by just checking the Top Hard disk using site and Top bandwidth using site. Then, hardware issues, What will happen if your server hardware fails ? You need to contact the server company. The same is with my end also. Nobody can predict it. Hard disk crash: I am taking Daily backups of all the accounts to a remote server that use RAID 6 hard disks Its http://rsyncpalace.com/ I have a 100 GB backup account there. I am using FTP backup option in WHM for backing up every account as tar.gz compressed format on every day. So, I can easily restore them if anything bad happens. I have ssh access on that remote backup server. You can see my site name "SunTex Hosting" at http://rsyncpalace.com/verify.php You must click directly from our home page to see the verification status because that page is using header info. www.suntexhosting.com , see the bottom , click on it. Here is the screenshot Let me know if you have any doubts or questions, all comments are welcome.. SunTex Hosting www.SunTexHosting.com
Also , we have an address and a phone number. I see lot of companies having no address and no phone numbers. Just only a contact box. and some one has just a chat id.
Well I disagree with your assessment of the number of customers you have. http://www.ipwalk.com/webhost/total_domains/webhost_name/suntexhosting.com If you have all resellers I have a hard time believing you have 60+ resellers on the same server. So using some other tools http://whois.webhosting.info/66.7.206.150 tells me ~250 sites on that IP. It also tells me you most likely do not even run SSL on your order form or anything. The customer doesn't have to be doing anything illegal to cause a problem. All it could be is a bad PHP script that is using all your ram and over 20 minutes would bring a box down. You can run things to prevent common hardware issues for one such as raid. Also the faster someone can get the problem looked into the better. If someone is sleeping for 8 hours thats a whole lot of down time. But really my point here is we'll see what customers say once shit hits the fan and this isn't a simple put customers on a server no real knowledge required. That's great but how fast can you do it? 100GB is a lot of stuff to restore assuming you have that much being used. Now don't take this wrong you seem to be better off then a lot of the people who advertise hosting here. But at this point I don't think you've played the game long enough to say you're fully prepared for what's coming and the experience will always be great. The real telling tail is after a few years when the host has experienced problems and has survived an still has a lot of happy customers. A one server operation is not close to that point yet.
Hello InFloW , Thanks for the comment. But I have more than one server. BTW, what is this ,http://www.ipwalk.com/webhost/total_domains/webhost_name/suntexhosting.com I can not see any specific information on that page. It only shows a number 45 ? what is that ? Also, what is this ? http://whois.webhosting.info/66.7.206.150 That domains are not mine. 66.7.206.150 is not my IP address. I don't know why you are telling false things ? we are all doing same business, May be because of that ? Well, I laughed at your comments This is applicable not only for me, but also for you too. Thanks, Well, I am taking backup after compressing the file to tar.gz file format. This can be done automatically using the WHM Backup option. Then I entered the remote ftp server details , RSYNC Palace, they use RAID 6. Then the server will take backups automatically on each day. You know that My new server hard disk usage is 21GB out of 500 GB . And the total size of the backup file is 6.3 GB. Well, I don't think moving half amount of original data thru ssh, using scp , is too time consuming thing. If the user want a backup file then he will allow us to take time as we want. Coz data is the most important thing. isnt it ? I am new to this forum, Digital Point Forums. But, I have experience in hosting field since 2 years. After that only I have started this hosting firm SunTex Hosting. Thank you for your comments. I love such comments coz It will help me to give better service for my clients. Also, No need to argue with me, I dont like it. I posted this much only because you have posted some wrong links. Regards
ipwalk takes the number of domains on your nameservers. So on 27/09/2007 you had 45 domains. Using a more up to date tool you have 48 domains http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/reports/total_domains/SUNTEXHOSTING.COM on your nameservers. As for the IP I assumed webhosting.info was showing the right IP. But using tools to see a reverse IP list such as http://www.myipneighbors.com/ and using the actual IP of 72.232.108.146 I can find out quite a bit. It's not 100% correct but it can tell you a lot and a ping of the domains can confirm if they're there. So based on that my word of advice put resellers on other IP's other than your own. Right now an attack on say mycoolworld.org or one of their sites you're left with trying to fight it off with apache tools or ddos mitigation hardware. If these do not work you're really out of options. If it was on another IP address you could null route the IP for the good of the server if the attack is to complicated to be fought effectively by hardware. Now for PHP scripts causing issues sure they can happen to us to. But how are you prepared to handle it is my question at hand. But to answer how we take care of it. We run software on the machines themselves to check load average as well as the status of any software. If the load is high warnings are emailed to us. If a service on the machine is off (maybe http failed a check on its local address) then its restarted and email sent out to our internal email. If a server crashes our automated systems sends a reboot request over the IPMI card if it fails checks for 15 minutes straight. At this point sms have already been sent our by the remote monitoring warning of the box being offline. So if the box does not come back on it's own someone will be able to investigate the machine. As for backups I am talking about restoring them if your server dies and you have to use backups. Customers are not very forgiving about their sites being down. They want it up as soon as possible which could mean a lot of work in a short period of time. That's my point if you're sleeping then it's an 8 hour wait or whatever. But my point with all of this is it's pretty clear you haven't run into any troubles yet that will come. When things do go wrong then it'll be a telling tail of how could of a company you actually are opposed to what you claim.
shoutserv.com scam hosting unlimited cash: 1000 users got scammed and paid $40 lifetime fee 1000 x $40 = $40,000 shoutserv.com made $40,000 in scam unlimited hosting in less than 6 months? How to get your money back and ask paypal to refund your cash? Is there a way to stop this hosting madness? Give Scotland YARD A call to catch him and put him in prison for fraud Sure he gave human kind a bad name as human being Or is a he a human?
No one is getting their money back web hosting is an intangible good. That means there is no seller protection so you will not get your funds back. Now it's simple on how these sort of scams will stop. People on digital point stop falling for them. If a user is selling life time accounts do not sign up. It's to good to be true stop falling for it. Same deal with unlimited space and bandwidth. Instead of thinking yeah they invented unlimited hard drives think for a minute and don't sign up. Finally if they have no site at all so no link. Or you're greeted withs some under construction page or something of that nature do not sign up. Also if they're doing support through the forum that's also a bad sign. It's some one man operation not a real business at all. What happens if digital point is down and you're also having issues with your site? I guess you wait until your site comes online or digital point comes back on so you can reply to a thread or send a pm. Or how about this imagine the user gets banned (happens on the time) I guess you're out of luck for support right?
i wish i had $40,000 shoutserv actually cost me money. and inflow is right a bda script wil bring down any server even a bad coded script will bring down a server no matter what the specs are.
