Keyword limit

I am doing some simple SEO and adding keywords to my new pages, I was just wondering if there is a limit to how many keywords I should use per page. Will google take action if I use to many words? If so what would you say is the optimum number to use?

It's a question of quantity, but the way how you put your keywords in content. Your content should be strictly on a topic and give at least some, touch of logic - to be considered as quality content.

I don't use more then 3-4 different keywords per page. You must remember that keywords are not even half of success. You must get incoming links.

For example getting links from web directories: 4 different keywords means that you have to divide 100 % "power" of webdirectories to 4 keywords 25% per one of them. If someone is optimizing only one of this keywords - he gets 100 % power of web directories.

I prefer one keyword for one domain.

I hope my english is understable :)

I would for sure avoid anything over 10%. Keyword stuffing can hurt you.

So if I have a different store pages should I use different keywords for each category or just use the same ones for all the pages?

More variety for keywords is better, I think.

Any word on your page (or in your anchor text) is something you can potentially be found for. I've got clicks from people searching for the word and. I wouldn't have called that a keyword, but Google and MSN both send traffic for it.

Therefore it makes sense not to spend so much energy on keywording. And then use your server logs as a type of focus group. I'm amazed to see how creative searchers are. Some of the best phrases are ones I would have never thought of to optimize for.
