Hi, I need your opinion about my website that sell truck related diesel performances parts. www.dieselsmoke.com So far I do not do any advertising since I rank 2 in Google and 1 in MSN and Yahoo. I get ~ 280 visitors per day with a bounce rate of ~ 50%-58%. 80% of traffic is from Search Engines. My next step would be to put my products on Ebay to increase sales as things have been slow in the last 2 months for reasons I do not understand. I appreciate any comments.
your message is not clear. It took me several moments to figure out what exactly your website was selling. Your customers shouldn't have to do this - deliver your message within a glance.
Your bounce rate is really high because as soon as the page loads it has that big box in the center with the heading "STORE WIDE SALE". All I see when I load your homepage is that ad plus the header above it, it gives me no reason to stay on your site. My suggestion is to remove the box and put up a more graphical image that showcases the products in someway that you are trying to promote. Then have a "click here for details" type button that people can click on which takes them to the actual sales page. Either that or shrink the ad down ALOT and put in some images or something more relevant. People tend to process images instantly, whereas text they have to take a few seconds to read. If you only have 6 seconds to impress somebody, which is the average attention span of a surfer, that 6 seconds was just spent reading the first 2 lines of your ad, which will turn them away.
Move the images that say "exhaust, tuners, air intakes, and injectors" so that they are above the fold. This will help your bounce rate alot and make your sites purpose more known.
First of all, I agree with the other posters that what your site is selling is not immediately clear. Second, I agree with craiger22 that you should move the images directly under your banner to make the sites purpose clearer. Third, I would create a drop-down box on the images that displays the different models of cars so they can move directly to what interests them. Fourth, under the pics I would show several of your more popular items and allow people to click on them for details and purchase. Fifth, the Google ad looks trashy and is pointless because it's not even related to your products.
that's great you are getting natural traffic. you might want to fix the banner and put a descriptive headline in the banner image that tells what your site is about. maybe have some more truck pictures on the homepage and tell them to visit your store? you could also offer a free report and make them sign up for an email list to capture leads...at 280 hits/day of natural traffic, that might make a good asset.
I agree about putting the images above - I would put them near the top. Also the LOGO is TOO BIG. It isn't selling anything - it's wasted space, cut it down in width a bit so you can place the images for what you do at the top. I would make room for a video and put a YouTube video right in the middle of it or make a video of your own - Videos are great for stickiness. You don't have enough copy that tells what you do and what you do have all runs together. The discounts aren't really impressive to me - I would be more impressed by free shipping than saving $15 for a $500 purchase. On the PLUS side - You do have some good rankings for your search terms: seodigger.com/request.php?q=www.dieselsmoke.com&base=google&step=50 Now you just need to change your site up a bit so you benefit from the traffic. I also agree with the fact that you should be giving away an ebook or something and collecting emails. Gregg
If you are going to use adsense, place some more ads on your site (every page, non-competitor) and change the color scheme. You should be able to make a little money from it. Right now, you only have a referral ad. You probably won't make any money from that unless it is related to your site.
I like it but your logo feels a little out of place to me. Everything else is very "techy" and detailed, but the logo looks dull to me. I'd suggest adding some effects to the logo to better match the website. 280 a day is good traffic for someone who doesn't advertise their website, good job. I give it a 7/10
Thanks everyone for the great feedback, I really appreciate it. Keep it coming ! I guess I have a bit of work to do tonight ! As far as Google Adsense, I was experimenting with it. I think it will go out since I made a big fat 0 out of it since I put it last week! The Ebook idea is great, I have lots of info, I just need to put together coherently.
Seconded, you need to grab their attention. Also, you could consider making the store wide sale into a smaller banner to put below.
If any one is interested, I made changes last night to the website to rfelct many of the items mentioned.
Site itself is not bad, although there are places you can improve. Specially the load time, try to use css without using much images, that way you will have better load time. Next thing to pull more traffic is link building. Doing that along with more SEO for more targeted keywords will get your site better chance of having more traffic. This is holiday season, people tend to use money for gifts more this time of the year, which is normal. Other things you could do is post ads on classified ads sites to increase sales. You can post free on mine also http://www.webcosmo.com
It is nice that u are getting organic traffic, But your site is confusing for the 1st time user as the message is not clear that u are selling some thing. I think that u will have to work on your graphics & make the message more clear & that will reduce your bounce rate.
What are you selling? Confusing first visit. The part of your header graphic with "DieselSmoke.com", the colors need to be different either in the header graphic, or in the URL, so that the URL leaps off the page and is not buried in the background image. No copy hardly on the main page? Come on, entice me to visit a part of your site at least, tell me where to go. Joseph Ratliff
