It's spelt pathetic, not pafetic. I NEVER put people down, I state FACTS. Truth is often painful, it appears to be hurting you like hell. Enough said.
That's great if its the case, I never like seeing pain, but please do respect that if you come and post a thread telling people who don't agree with your views to shut up we have a right to reply. btw, I'm not an absolute tosser like you just red repped me. The pain!! Have a nice day.
I think the argument for bidding directories for traffic as apposed to pr is wearing thin. Mainly because the people arguing for it are the ones with pr 0 bidding directories. YES its a promotional stunt. Face it if your bidding directories where pr 6 you would be waving that around not the traffic. People started submitting to bidding directories because they offer high exposure and many are highly promoted and looked certain to get a high page rank. (which they may still do), untill google stuck the knife and spoiled the party. Noone knows exactly where this is going. My only hope is that Rand (you know who) is wrong. I've read some of his posts about directories and based on my own opinions, things i read in his posts and what others have said i think he's full of sh*t. It's an interesting argument did google penalize for building links too fast? I have been stung by that one before so my feeling is that this is a completely new penalty that they have tried to build into their algorythm.
We will not know what's going on for a while until we get more information and experiments on the current algo. But the fact is that not all directories got penalized, not all bidding directories got penalized. All of mine seem very fine, for example. In fact, the rankings got higher than before, including my bidding directory. I am more curious to know why G penalized on certain directories and not others. That is what we need to know instead of generalizing what G appears to be doing on web directories.
The sitewide link on zorg links is there for traffic (the one on the right) - thats why it has nofollow on it.
You are full of shit. Everyone has opinions, but to say that your opinions are 100% correct is just absurd. Why repeat something that 100,000 people have already said in similar posts on this forum? You may very well be right on some, all, or even none of your opinions, but don't go around toting your opinions as if they were gold. Opinion: (e pinyen, o-) n. 1 a belief not based on absolute certainty or positive knowledge but on what seems true, valid, or probable to one's own mind; judgment Glad you backed up your statement, I for one don't really care all that much about nofollows, but it is good to see you stand behind your word. +rep yeah when they learnt hat Google doesn't decide which sites collapse and which live Google shouldn't control the internet. I have seen so many BULLSHIT posts about how bid directories aren't about PR, but here you say thta PR is the king. Oops someone screwed up. just because people have littel green GIFs doesn't mean they are god, don't judge someone based on reputation or posts. Way to speak your mind, as alwasy you are right on the money +rep You are hte one putting down people, so I guess you ar ranting against yourself. Agagin stop trying to tell people that you know the answer. Nobody knows what the future holds. Any website can potentially live indefinately on the internet, gogole shouldn't decide how long it lasts, so all websites that realize that google is god, havea step ahead of everyone else.
This seems an odd thing to say given that in your post you repped 2 people. They where repped for a reason valid reasons or not (usually valid i hope). Thats plenty of reason to take notice of someones rep.
Yes I repped two people in this post, and I have repped many more. But look around this forum, it is divided into 3 clans. (1.) Side A (2.) Side B (3.) Side C, these people are the owns that don't agree with anyone, who knws what coreners fo the earth they come from Pretty much: Side A reps other Side A's while Side B reps other Side B's and Side C reps who knows who. Yeah so reputation is really tainted, I still give it for what I think is a good honest well thought out post, but that doesn't mean it is going to prove that person is a "good person"
I forgot to say that I am a Side C person. I don't own a directory at the moment, so I have no reason to side with any group. I just side withwhoever.
Exactly, there's too many lemmings on here as it is, and I ain't one of them, just like you aren't. It's nice to have rep but only if its for a valid point, thanks btw bobby. Red reppers are usually little kids who have no idea or are people who have had the truth thrown smack in thier face and they don't like it.
Ah, what if there is this thing called and algorithm and it finds something it does not like? Hmmm.... No, you're probably right.. Google probably pays an elite group of people millions of dollars each per year to surf dp and find directories to target.. When will this end?
Apart from the unecessary comments and sarcasm your first part of the question was excellent and one I'd love to answer. It's only my view here remember I'm no Matt Cutt's or anything just someone who likes to think they do thier homework before posting. Many of the so called 'top' directories have been penlized in some shape or form, apparently for (and there's no hard evidence) selling PR or buying PR, take your pick. Now these deserve to be penalized so what if a directory that actually does charge for reviews gets accidently penalized by Google? What can you do? Well, I think that you'd have a very strong case to simply write to the Google support team stating your case that your not one of the PR chasers, if you've followed the rules and you know you can support this then there is absolutely no reason why they won't re-instate you. Just an opinion but makes sense and would be interesting to see.
This started when Google missed the Q3 update and if I am not mistaken, after some very direct threats were made. Has this ever happened before or are we currently breaking the allcomers record? Next came the first wave of penalties and correct me if I am wrong but it looked very much as if Google was targeting the industry guru's and others who spent a lot of time talking up the value of their sites on this very forum. Right or wrong. No one is arguing that they are more than likely tweaking their radar but there is a strong case to support the argument that they selected certain directories for target practise and that it was live ammunition that they were using. How are they doing by the way? Have they bounced back yet?
I appreciate some of the opinions expressed here and I totally agree directories in general are very very far from done with. They may require some adapting in the future if you want to stay in Google's good graces, but it is too soon to make a judgment on that. However, this is getting to be an old discussion.
It may well be an old discussion but sometimes it takes a long time to get to the real answers, and besides, we're keeping this in the public domain for all to read and learn, why should we close it when so many questions are left unanswered?
