I am new to blogs so this may be an elementary question but I need to know what pining is and how it is done with a blog. How ofter is it done and were do I do it? Where should I submit my blog.
Pinging is when you request a search engine / bookmarking service to come and crawl your blog for new content, which is then indexed. If you're with Technorati you can set it to ping automatically. If you want to ping several places at once I recommend Pingoat.
Depending on your blog platform pinging is something you can set and forget about. I use WordPress and have my ping list set and done automatically after each post.
If you run wordpress it automatically pings a select list of sites. You can add to the list if you want to.
I use blogger.com for my blog and want to know if it pingsa automaticallyor do I need to do it somewhere else like the ones recommended in other post about this?
