Block certain search terms in Google?

Is there a way to block a certain keyword from being searched in google on a computer? Or block the page url that the keyword is being searched in? (I tried blocking the url using both ways, the host file & the internet options thing but it doesn't work)

How did you go about it in your host file, and what happened when you tried?

 

I can still access the link I am trying to block.

No, the thing I'm trying to block isn't necessarily adult content.

 

You could use a software filter, or possibly even your Antivirus/Firewall but the user would still be able to pull up the Google cache of the site or page.

Hosts file should of worked, what format did you use to deny the URL?

 

This is what I put:

127.0.0.1 http://www.google.com/search?q=keyword

 

Hmm nope, i just tried different combos in my hosts file and couldn't get it to block a specific search string.

Maybe try blocking that URL with your Anitvirus/Firewall

 

I have the AVG Free Edition and I checked, it doesn't seem to have that option available.
